Not giving up - after 6 years
Hello everyone, I recently joined the forum and am quite amazed at the strength of the members. My husband and I have been TTC since 2006. I had just turned 34 when we married in 2005, and to my surprise I am approaching 40 already (August). We tried naturally for 2 years (2006-2008). After no success (no miscarriages ever, no BFP) we saw a RE who told us we're in the "unexplained category." We underwent numerous IUIs, 2 IVFs and still no answers. We have tried everything at this point to time our conception each month. I have taken various supplements, yoga classes that promote fertility, I have tried everything. Of course, we've taken months "off" to relax and not "think about it" but it never fails, we always try to time our "trying." We fall between the cracks it seems. We've never conceived, no miscarriages, we both have normal hormone levels, normal ovulation, FSH, sperm count, etc. etc...everything is "normal" - we are now on our 3rd reproductive specialist in hopes he has new insight. I wondered is there anyone like me? You simply don't fit into any one category? I hate to admit it but I wish we could at least experience even a "chemical pregnancy" so that we know that yes, our sperm and egg can connect? Is this twisted thinking?

I can definitely appreciate your thinking. Mine is the opposite. Sometimes I wish i was in your position, not having gone through 4 losses... Neither scenario is desirable. I assume its our minds trying to help us deal with it. idk.
Welcome to the board. I hope your stay is short and sweet!

I guess you could go with the theory, "It's better to have loved and lost than to never loved at all.." ... but coming from someone who has gone through MANY losses at various stages in pregnancy (chemical, first trimester, 2nd trimester, multiples... ) I believe that neither scenario is worse. It's just different. In the end, we are in the same place as far as not having a baby to show for the years of endless yearning and drugs, etc...Each path comes with it's own challenges.

Wow- very interesting. I understand what you mean about wishing you could have at least been pregnant, just to know that you have the ability. Do you ever watch the show Mystery Diagnosis? There are people who have ailments that go undetected for years. Just keep switching doctors until you find an answer. There must be a reason.
