A gas tank for a stove...?
Like a stove in your kitchen? You have propane?

Re: Gas Tank for Stove/Oven
Should i also assume you are talking about a large tank for outside your house?
is it used for just the stove? or heating the house as well?

Yes, just the stove. We have oil for heat & hot water.

Re: Gas Tank for Stove/Oven
ok so.. i could be mistaken... but tanks of that size are normally professional installed... there are regulations on where the tank can be installed (i.e. distance from house, neighbors, etc). i dont think its something you can just go pick up at home depot.
is it common in your area? i would find a local license contractor/plumber or contact the local propane delivery companies... they would have all the detail you need.

We had a setup similar to yours when we lived in W Babylon. SUCH a PITA. If it was a home I owned I'd invest in an electrician to wire the house for an electric stove.
We had to go with the company who owned the tanks or start new service with another company. We used Amerigas and I wouldn't use them again or recommend them. They were atrocious to deal with at every step from delivery to payment/billing to their service when we had a problem with a leak.
Unlike with oil companies, if you have above ground smaller tanks, no company will just come out and fill them. You have to use the one that installed the tank. It was a mess, hated it. They also gave us a hard time since they want to put you on auto delivery but we wanted to be COD because we were only renting.
Here's a finder that I used. I would start calling around for prices, I have to do this as well because our house uses a lg propane tank for the fireplace and there is a nozzle on the deck for the grill. http://www.usepropane.com/fpr.aspx

Re: Gas Tank for Stove/Oven
I just had this done. Let me dig up who I used. I just had the tank replaced and metered.
I only go through a tank once in a few years so not bad.
Cylinder express in Bayshore. Very reasonable.
