Twins Starting Cereal/ & weight of twins

My little Boys ( 3 1/2 mnths) just rec'd the ok today to start cereal (oatmeal) I can't believe how quickly time is going. We tried it tonight but my little twin (B) HATED IT!! What fruit did you guys start with? I am thinking maybe I can mix with something. My friend told me Bananas. What do you guys think?

Also, there is a 3 lb difference for my guys.
A- 15lb 10oz 90% percentile
B- 12lb 10oz 25% percentile
They are also both very tall so VERY high in % for that too. HOw much do your twins weigh???

Re: Twins Starting Cereal/ & weight of twins

My twins have a big weight difference. At 7 months one of the was 21lbs and the other was 16.5. Almost the same height.
Now they are almost 9months and they have an appt next week but I feel like the weight dif is just about the same. They eat the same amount of food and formula though. It's just how each child metabolizes it.
I wouldn't add fruit just yet. Let him get used to the cereal 1st. Its not the taste they dont like its the new texture. Keep trying. It took one of my girls like a week to actually start eating it. The other took to it right away. After they actually ate the cereal I started adding fruits. I started with apples and pear since bananas bind them a bit. U will Notice their poop will change with feeding solids so they need to learn to digest it. I actually didn't start giving the, the binding foods (potatoe, rice, banana) till 6months when their bodies got used to,food and they were pooping daily again.

They might be too small for the high chairs still. I started using him last month. They didn't like them or get comfy b4 that.

My twins just started oatmeal cereal with fruit about 2 weeks ago, they are almost 5 months. I started them on apples first, my DS hated it at first, but then I fed him in the bouncer, instead of the high chair and he seemed to enjoy it more. My DD loves peaches. I would try apples first! My twins are usually a pound apart, the last appt. they weighed (DD) 13.2 and (DS) 14.9 and they are about the same height.

Re: Twins Starting Cereal/ & weight of twins

I held off on cereal/solids with my girls until 5.5 months. They are/were so tiny I really wanted them to stick with the nice fatty breast milk Chat Icon

DS was never a picky solids eater. But I intro'd all veggies first, then fruits.

With the girls I just gave them whatever I grabbed and never really liked the veggies. They would only eat fruits.

Thanks for your response. We didnt try apples yet but did try applesauce & also bananas. After I started googling, I found out that those two fruits cause constipation. From what I read about fruits we should start with peaches or pears. I am going to Dr again on 3/2 so we will ask.
