First Time Mom here with crazy questions..
When alone with baby (newborn) where do you put baby when you have to use the bathroom?
Sorry if this sounds silly. But I'm scared to take my eyes off of DS.
Everyone always says, "sleep when the baby sleeps". Well a) when is that? Lol b) where are you and where is baby when you take your naps.
Thank you ladies!!

DS slept in the rock n sleeper for first 3-4 weeks so when he would sleep I would sleep in my bed with the rock n sleeper next to the bed

Re: First Time Mom here with crazy questions..
Bathroom- I put DD in her swing, Pack n Play or crib
Shower- I would usually shower when she napped.
We used the Pack n Play for a few weeks while I BF'ed at night, then we moved her into her crib and I used to go into the nursery to feed.
For nap time, I usually crashed on the couch or bed and baby slept in her swing, pack n play or crib. She was close by at all times.

I would leave her in swing, or RNP sleeper.
I had no worries resting/napping/showering if she was in the living room in the swing, or RNP sleeper and I was in the next room in my bed.
I was never able to 'sleep' during the day when she slept. I could rest for a little bit, but never actually sleep during the day time.

Re: First Time Mom here with crazy questions..
I have a seat in the bathroom...I have dogs so I never leave her alone with them. If I didn't have dogs I'd just put her in the swing. I put her in the bouncer in the bathroom to shower too.
When she was a newborn I would put her in her swing to nap and I'd *try* to nap on the couch in the same room. Or we napped together on the couch.

Re: First Time Mom here with crazy questions..
I put my LO in their bassinet when I would go to the bathroom.
If when the baby napped, they were parked in their bassinet and I'd crawl into bed. I kept the baby in my room b/c I breastfed and it was easier. I got very good at falling asleep on command, day or night.

Re: First Time Mom here with crazy questions..
i put him in his swing with some music, or i'd have him sit in a bouncy seat, or the fisher price rocker if I had to put him down for a second. I showered when he napped or id wait until my husband got home and showered then if I had no where to go, but just wanted to be clean!
I had him sleep next to my bed in a rocker or bassinet i would nap at the same time.

Re: First Time Mom here with crazy questions..
I would take him with me when I went to the bathroom. That was my first. He was always in my arms. With numb two I put her in her crib with the mobile on, or her swing, or bounce chair.
With my first I would nap with him in my bed. Or he would nap in my arms. With the second one I could nev take naps. I went to bed really early though.
I miss the newborn stage. I never thought I would say that, but I do. Enjoy it!

Re: First Time Mom here with crazy questions..
I'm a first time Mom as well and all of these situations were scary to encounter, at first. When I went to the bathroom I would wheel my bassinet into the bathroom with me or I would bring his lamb chair into the bathroom. When I took a shower I would make sure he was asleep in his bassinet and I would go into the shower. I have a bathroom in my bedroom so I would shut my bedroom door and keep the bathroom door open When he would take his naps, I would use that time to clean up around the house and do things I needed to do, so it was kinda rare that I would sleep...but if I did, I had his bassinet in my bedroom, so I would sleep with him. Now he's 5 months old. When I have to go to the bathroom, I put him in his pack in play or put him in the middle of my bed. I don't take a shower until my husband comes home and if I take a nap, I utilize my video monitor and watch him/ rather listen to him on that Don't worry, it definitely gets easier!! Good luck to you

Re: First Time Mom here with crazy questions..
everything that everyone else said. and it gets easier once they get a little older.
and your babes is SO brand new... you may not even be getting the "sleep when the baby sleeps" time yet. that will come around 2-4 weeks old. it is REALLY DIFFICULT in the beginning but i promise it gets better. i didn't believe people when they told me that, but they were right!

Re: First Time Mom here with crazy questions..
I would bring the bouncy seat into the bathroom with me and put the baby in that. Or I would bring a blanket and put the baby on the floor. They can't fall far when they are already on the floor.
For newborn babies I would change the diaper, then nurse, then burp then stick them in the swing. Both of my kids slept in the PNP and I slept right next to them on the couch. I did have help for the first few weeks so I could give them to other people after nursing so I could sleep. I had two c/sections.

--crib, bouncy seat, bassinet, somewhere she/he is safe
Everyone always says, "sleep when the baby sleeps". Well a) when is that? Lol b) where are you and where is baby when you take your naps.
---It is hard to sleep when baby sleeps, especially at first! I remember the first time I kept looking at her to make sure she was breathing. It gets easier. Trust me! Try to nap when your baby does.
My DD would sleep in the Rock n PLay. I highyl recommend it. It would be next to my side of the bed when I slept or next to the couch if I napped there. It's so portable. GET IT!!!
You will wake up when your baby cries. I was soooo scared of that at first, but a lot of times I woke up right before she cried.
((((((HUGS)))))) Hang in there mama! You will get through this and it will be amazing!

I put DD anywhere! in the bassinet, in the swing, in the high chair (when she was 3+ months). I got her used to it and she would hang out while I showered and got dressed too! I brought the baby in teh bathroom with me ONCE and I said, well this is silly I am not doing this again!

Anywhere again. DD could be in the bassinet, swing, high chair, pack and play. . . I would nap anywhere, couch, bed -- doesnt have to be in teh same room, she will let me know when she is up

Re: First Time Mom here with crazy questions..
The Rock n' Play was my best friend for the first few months. DD slept in that the first few weeks. I would bring that right outside the bathroom door and keep the door open when I showered. If I just had to go to the bathroom, I put her in the bassinet of the PNP, the swing, or the bouncy seat.

Re: First Time Mom here with crazy questions..
I Always took the bouncy seat in the bathroom with me. My bathroom is attached to my bedroom so as she got older I put her in the pnp in my room. Now that she climbs out of everything I bring toys and books in he bathroom while I shower or use the bathroom. Not sure how I'm going to manage two.

Re: First Time Mom here with crazy questions..

- Believe me, there were times when I held my screaming DD in my arms when going to the bathroom but if she was asleep or awake and content I would leave her in the swing or newborn napper that came with the pnp (this is still her favorite napping spot, even at 16 weeks). I also put her into the napper and bring her into the bathroom while I shower.
Everyone always says, "sleep when the baby sleeps". Well a) when is that? Lol b) where are you and where is baby when you take your naps.
- I'm not a napper at all but the one time I used to sleep was after her first early morning feeding around 7. Most times we both just fell asleep on the couch. Otherwise I would be cleaning or doing some work (for my job) while she was napping.
Congrats!
