After two years of working thru an agency, I FINALLY have a teaching job.

A REAL teaching job!!!!!!!!

I accepted a teaching position in a Brooklyn Charter school.

I'm so excited and nervous at the same time.

Any advice for someone who is entering their own class for the first time toward the end of the school year?

Congrats! That is fantastic news! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I don't have too much advice- I would suggest acting as though it's the first day of school- I am sure the school will have its policies and procedures, but as the new teacher you will need to make sure they understand your expectations.

Good luck! I am happy for you! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Congratulations!!!!

my 2 cents:

Find out what end of the year exit outcomes are for the children so you have a clear(er) sense of where you need to go with them.

Buy a load of file folders and file, file, file so you can keep up with the paperwork.

Document everything - parent communication, administrative communication, etc. Develop a system in advance (if you can) so you can just slide into it.

HTH!
