anyone ever been to Scotland?
We are thinking of going for our anniversary - DH wants to check out golf courses and I want to see Castles and work on photography.
Anyone ever been? What else is there to do?

I spent a week in Scotland. I loved it! I did a week tour called Haggis. We traveled throughout the whole country- saw castles, monuments, breweries etc. At night the tour took us to pubs, etc.

Yes, I went for Hogmanay which is the New Year celebrations in Scotland and a bigger deal than Christmas. I went to Glasgow (people were very friendly), Dundee (very old and run-down) and Aberdeen (which was okay). I did not go to Edinburgh, which is supposed to be the nicest city. We had the best time in Glasgow and overall it was a great trip.

I LOVED the Haggis tour. It was great. We saw so many beautiful parts of the Scottish Highlands. I think there's a 3 day and 7 day tour.

I love Scotland, the Scottish people are soo nice. I love Glasgow, its my favorite city in the UK...I have loads of friends who live there. I don't know too much about castles (wait here while I check with my husband about castles) He has the flu so he said *yes* but refused to elaborate on the subject. Anyway, Glasgow is an old city with lots of stone tenement buildings, the Art School is the most fantastic building because its all Rennie McIntosh inspired. The Botanical Gardens are fantastic, the Kelvin is beautiful. We went to a wedding at the House for an Art Lover and that was beautiful!!!
I am not too sure about castles, but what I would suggest one millions times as the most beautiful place in the UK is Northumberland. Its a county right near the Scottish Border (maybe an hour by train) and its just superb for scenery and castles. Northumberland Tourist Board There is Bamburgh castle, Dunstanburgh castle, Alnwick Castle (where Harry Potter was filmed) the Alnwick Gardens are exquisite! The people in the North East of England will welcome you with open arms....

Anyway, if you have any questions about it FM me, I live in the North West of England, so I do know about those areas.
