anyone work a part time job (later hours or weekends) that offers dental insurance?
im doing some research on the possibility of being a stay at home mom but my job currently provides the dental insurance for my family. my husbands job offers an awful plan so its not worth it to go on his.
i was thinking of picking up a part time job at night or possibly the weekends so i can qualify for dental insurance still. anyone know or currently work part time in retail or offices with late hours that still get dental insurance so i can get an idea of what kind of places would offer that?

I work in the dental field and I know walmart offers delta dental insurance which is actually pretty good. I'm not sure how many hours employees need to work to be eligible. Also most supermarkets offer dental benefits.

Don't know their plans, but I often joke around with my colleagues about going to work for Starbucks because I hear they have insurance if you work P/T.
Everyone there also always seems like they LOVE their job, even in the AM when it's crazy.
ETA: Awhile back, DH was thinking of working at Stop&Shop when his business was slow. They responded to his application right away.
He didn't go through with it because he couldn't make the hours. (I think he needed to be there by 4 or 5 in the afternoon, prompt).

Kohl's and Target both offer benefits to part time Employees and have nearly 24-hr/day shifts available because even when the store isn't open then need people to do stock. Part-time to recieve benefits is 20 hours with Kohl's and Target.
Part time to recieve benefits is 30 hours at Starbucks.
I was looking into this before I got pregnant because we need better health benefits in my family --- coverage through my DH's job is horrible!

Do your kids qualify for Child Health Plus? DH has health insurance through his job that we pay through the roof for and it's still a horrible plan. It was going to be so much more a month to add DS so we looked into Child Health Plus and we qualified even though DH already had insurance through his job. We pay a small amount each month and everything is covered...medical and dental and there are no copays and I picked a plan so that I could go to the ped of my choice, it's not a clinic or anything like that.
Def worth looking into. Your DH could make a good deal of money and you could still qualify. They have different brackets, like if he makes this amount you pay $9 a month, if he makes this amount, you pay $20 a month, and so on. Super cheap and way cheaper than the amounts that would come out of your check each month through an employer.
FM me if you have any questions.

I was going to say this! Starbucks is one of the few employers I know of that offers health insurance to PT employees. I work for a library (which requires a Masters Degree), and the movement is to hire PT people, but they generally get no benefits--no health, definitely no dental, no sick time, etc. Sometimes I do think I would be better off at Starbucks! I work all kinds of hours anyway.

Starbucks has it but think you might have to be there 3 months before it kicks in and maintain a certain amount of hrs

yup. Ive been there 3.5 years. I work 6-10 weeknights (most people are 5-10, i cant get there till then) and varying hours on the weekend. I got my full benefits for the entire family after 6 months of employment. Full medical dental and vision as well as 401k

I was just going to suggest Costco. They've got excellent benefits.
