What finally worked for you???
Congrats to everyone on their successes after riding the infertility roller coaster. I am new to this forum and searching for answers after losing nine pregnancies. I am currently a patient of Dr. Braverman and he is suggesting neupogen, an injectable drug that diminishes immune response to pregnancy. Has this worked for any of you? Or was there something else that finally worked? Neupogen is very expensive and not covered by insurance so I'm skeptical after so many disappointments if this will just be a waste of more money. Believe me, I will do whatever it takes but the out of pocket expenses we've endured has been obscene and we're still only left heart ache.
Anyone have any words of wisdom or enlightenment?
Thank you!
Bridget

Re: What finally worked for you???
i was a braverman patient too. i didnt use neupogen but i hear alot of girls do! i am so sorry for you losses!!!
what worked for me? luck and perserverance have you seen the perinatologist dr kofinas in garden city? i see him now that i am pregnant but i do know some women with multiple losses saw him as well as braverman while trying to get pregnant to do any possible additonal testing or medications.
i didnt ahve as many oop as most people so i dont doubt how cautious you have to be when paying for more meds. i would def ask the girls on the if board about neupogen specifically. gl xoxo

Re: What finally worked for you???
Thanks for both of your responses. I am on prednisone, lovenox and lipids while TTC. Once I get a BFP, I'll switch to neupogen. So glad that combo worked for you!
I will check out the Dr that you mentioned!! Thx again!

Re: What finally worked for you???
i am a dr. b success story too!!
i didn't need neupogen but at the time i cycled (october 2010) it wasn't used that much at that point.
i had PCOS, elevated NK, a thrombo issue, and a partial HLA match with my DH. i ended up at IVF after a lot of medicated cycles and two chemicals. the ultimate combo that worked for me, besides the standard IVF stim protocol was to take ganirelix through the whole stim (to keep LH low from the start since i had an issue with that), intralipid infusions, dexamethasone, lovenox, baby aspirin.

Wonderful news! Congratulations! Sounds like we have similar things going on and Dr B has me on same protocol. Thanks for giving me some hope!

Re: What finally worked for you???
I used to see Dr. B too.
I did 9 iui's (8 with him) and it never worked once. Finally when I was able to do ivf it worked my first time.
I have some minor issues, MTHFR A and C, slightly elevated Thyroid antibodies and NK.
But now that ivf worked the first time we think I may have had slight endo that prevented egg and sperm meeting, even though I don't have any endo symptoms.
Good luck!

Leb,
So happy to hear you've had success! Did Dr B have you on Neupogen?

Leb,

Dr. B only had me on metnax and baby aspirin for the MTHFR, he always said lovenox was too aggressive for me. Synthroid for the Hashimotos disease, and Intralipids for the elevated NK.
The IUI's I did with him with a combination of femara and follistim, I was never on neupogen.
ETA - A bunch of herbs and natural supplements too!
When I was forced to switch because of insurance (or really because he stopped accepting!) he was surprised that my new place suggested ivf right away. But after 9 straight IUI's I was emotionally and hormonally drained and ready to do anything, and since my first ivf worked and I got a good number of eggs which mostly fertilized (I have 9 frozen ones).
I personally really think I MUST have mild endo that is messing with my tubes. I don't get what else could have prevented pregnancy since all my tests were perfect and I was a good responder.
