FYI DDI Ronkonkoma
I got a call today from my sons teacher telling me that next year (because of budget cuts w/the county) that all students transitioning to Preschool must be in a 10 mile radius from Ronkonkoma. Me living out east, I wouldn't be able to send my son to school in the afternoon close by- plus I would have to drive out there and pick him up. We are leaving YAP anyway's but just wanted to give you guys a heads up in case you didn't hear yet.

is that just for new comers trasitioning?? Or current kids?
I havent been told by my son's teacher.
It is getting so pathetic all these cuts and especially to the kids who need it
So all the school districts are doing this? Bussing is payed for by the school district, unless it is select districts?

I hope that isn't the case with all of them. My DS goes from Port Jeff to the Huntington campus. Yikes!

I was going to tour Ronkonkoma for DD, but, we are keeping her closer to home. She'll be going to Huntington.
All these cuts are so scary! These kids NEED these services. It's just not right!

All I was told that the change would be made in the Fall, I would think it would apply to all students.

My DD goes there. I am planning to continue her there in the fall under CPSE. I am going to ask about this.

I asked the assistant director there about this and she said she hadn't heard of anything like that. It might have to do with your specific school district, as they are the ones paying for the school and the transportation there. I'll be going for our CPSE meeting in 10 days. They better approve DDI for my DD!

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it was my district, they are so cheap. We're leaving anyway's so it's not a big issue but another student was told the same thing (there from Port Jeff) so I don't know. I'll ask again when I have parent training.
GL with your meeting and hoping your DC isn't affected by this nonsense!
