Why are some of the posters on this board so brutal?
I mean really.
For some people to constantly talk trash about celebs, why not post what you look like on a daily basis? Would you like people attacking every last detail of what you looked like when you ran to the gym, Starbucks, etc?
Sheesh.

These people make money off being famous, being in the public eye, especially reality stars who's livelihood is based on their lives. In many people's eyes it makes them fair game I guess.

For me it's because I have a different standard for celebrities, models, entertainers. If you're a celebrity, you're the one that is putting yourself out there, hoping to get press (good or bad, btw) to stay relevant in your career. I'm going to judge.
My friend & I have an expression when we're critiquing celebrities. If someone looks awful they're "supermodel awful". Not in the realm of awfulness we can even remotely look like.
and since you asked, I'm short & fat. I'm pretty sure tomorrow, I'll be the same but if you want I can post it just to make sure everyone knows.

this is a celebrity and entertainment board. As a culture...celebrities are always closely watched as trend-setters. This board is no different than opening up a celebrity gossip magazine except we actually SAY what we are thinking. When you see somebody...there's always an impression that sticks out in your head wether you care to admit it or not. We just happen to say what comes to mind. Celebs have fashion stylists, makeup artists, personal trainers, nannies, maids. Not only do they have the time to put into themselves...but their career depends on it. So of course we are going to look at them with a different criteria than we would each other. Lord knows I've looked back at pictures of myself and said "ugh...look at that outfit what was I thinking! or yikes...I've gained weight...I looked better back then". Sure sometimes people go a bit hard...but I wouldn't take it so seriously.
I don't plan to wear a bikini anytime soon...but I look pretty good! (provided I maintain my eyebrows...otherwise  )

I think if I had millions of dollars, it might ease the blow of a bunch of random strangers critiquing me....

Members of this board judge other members all the time... Maybe not on their looks but plenty of other stuff...

I definitely cringe at a lot of the comments on this board. I get that it is the C&E board but I don't see the point in being soo brutal towards other women's looks (famous or not). I just think there is a way to say something without being so nasty.

really??? they are celebs most of them are famous because of what they look like. If we aren't supposed to be looking at them why are there like 10 different celeb gossip magazines at every counter talking about what they are wearing or what they look like.
I am not famous, I am not making money based on my looks, I am not on the cover of every magazine....

I guess there's a nice way and nasty way to say everything but for the most part, these are people whose entire careers revolve in a large extent to how they look. They made the decision to be famous (or infamous).

This is what I mean. Sure, they are "fair game" to some, but there's nicer ways to say things. If I don't have something nice to say, I don't post it. I don't berate other womens looks, and I think tearing other women down, regardless of if they are in the spotlight, is wrong.

I'm not sure but I honestly think it is mean and catty. I don't buy into the whole "it's part of being a celeb". Well, maybe it is, but I don't think it should be. Sure, these people work hard and make a lot of money and sure they could step out looking like they walked off a runway but maybe they have different priorities like their families and I think that's fine. It's one thing to post "wow that outfit is horrible" and it's another thing to pick apart people who you don't know. Just my two cents.
