Re: Are there any 40 year olds still TTC #1?
I was 38 when I got pregnant with from a FET. I had her a few days before I turned 39. I have seen others on this board who were 40 plus when they conceived. Good luck!

there is no set age to have a baby. People make out age to be something that it isn't. Don't worry about it, stay strong and keep going till you get your BFP!

Re: Are there any 40 year olds still TTC #1?
I just turned 40 in January and I've been TTC for 2 years. I was a patient at RS of NY during these 2 years. I had countless unsuccessful IUI's and 2 failed IVF cycles. Currently getting a second opinion with Dr. Palter in Syosset and planning going forward with a 3rd IVF cycle. Perhaps a new doctor with a new perspective and protocol might be just what I need. He specializes in women with advanced maternal age so I'm hopeful for positive results. I'm glad you posted because I was being to think I was the only older woman here. Good luck to you.

Re: Are there any 40 year olds still TTC #1?
I had my first DD via IUI at 38 (turned 39 2 months later). Am now 31 weeks pg with DD#2 via IVF at 40 - will be 41 this month.
I got pg with my 1st on my 6th IUI. I did 3 rounds of clomid then moved onto injectibles. I had 2 miscarriages then the last one took. We tried on our own for a few months before seeking help from an RE. With this one, we did 5 unsuccessful IUI's with injectibles then decided to move on to IVF to be more agressive. Did 2 fresh cycles - I am a very poor responder to very high doses of follistim/gonal f. The 1st cycle had only 3 eggs retrieved and 2 fertiled. Transferred both back - BFN. The second cycle after switching up the protocol a bit, we retrieved 5 eggs and 4 fertilized. We transferred 3 back and 1 took. The 4th embryo didn't make it to freeze.
Good luck!!! I never thought it would happen for me, but here I am. Keep the faith and don't give up.

Re: Are there any 40 year olds still TTC #1?
I got pregnant at 42 on our 5th IVF and had our DD at 43. My DX was diminished ovarian reserve and I was a poor responder to the drugs. Of our 5 IVFs 2 were cancelled, on 1 they didn't retrieve any eggs, on our 4th IVF they got 3 eggs but only 1 to transfer and on our final cycle I had just 3 eggs and all 3 were transferred, resulting in our single DD.
I tried 4 different REs and had 4 different protocols. I believe the clue to success is to keep trying something new if the tried and tested fails.

Re: Are there any 40 year olds still TTC #1?
I am almost 40. In July so I guess I can answer this post. I just got married in Aug 2011. My husband and I decided to try and conceive right after the wedding. Once I came off the pill I never got my period. I knew there was a problem. I went to the Dr and after many tests I was told I have Premature Ovarian Failure and my FSH level was over 100. Pretty much they tell me my ovaries are shrivelled up. Not something I was prepared to hear. Spent a couple of months of being monitored and no change. Barely anyway. We decided to go for egg donation. We are schedule for my First and hopefully last IVF using a egg donor. I have such mixed feelings about it. Sad that I cant use my own eggs but so so so happy there are people out there who are willing to donate there eggs to help people like me experience the miracle of childbirth. I am very nervous about all the pills and injections. Can anyone relate?

Re: Are there any 40 year olds still TTC #1?
We turned to adoption to complete our family. I started IVF when I was 40 and last year we stopped after 7 cycles.
Unfortunately it is a lot harder for women who are older. Not impossible but age is a huge factor.
Good luck.

Re: Are there any 40 year olds still TTC #1?
Well, I'm 44 (ugg how did that happen, I was 37 when we started this mess- 6 1/2 years here) and I'm still TTC #1. There's not enough space here for my story...LOL....I don't know how to give up until I've reached my goal. And adoption or a surrogate is not an option.
