I think you should both talk to her. Or do this. If she sees her son is upset too maybe it will stopChat Icon

Re: MIL strikes again

I think you can have all the sitdowns you want with her, but I think unless your DH decides to establish the boundaries and stick to them, she is going to continue to say things like this to him behind your back. I'm not trying to hurt your feelings by saying this, but after reading all your MIL stories, it doesn't seem like she wants to listen to you if he is not involved in the conversation.

I hope you can work it out.

I agree. I have read all your MIL stories and it really doesn't seem like she listens to you at all. You Dh must see that, right?

Why must these MIL make it so difficult?

Oh I have spoken to her in the past, but it doesn't help, I let my DH handle it cause the last time I said something to her she stayed up till 3am wondering why I was so mean to her!Chat Icon His family is just so set in there ways.

But, to be honest, I think she tends to do these things whenever we start to establish a more comfortable relationship. Everytime I start to think that the awkwardness is over and we're all really a family, she does some stupid azz thing like this.

I couldve written this myself!!!!!!

Im sorry- I feel for you I really do!

I cant offer you any advice- because I obviously cant even handle my own issues... BUT I say call her out on it...(not in a nasty way) Ive noticed in the past few months- me calling my MIL out on things that make me unhappy- has made a big difference.... She does usually get all drama mama about it @ first- but then eventually she's fine and the issue goes away (at least for a little while) Now that I dont sit back and take it- she is a little ( take this with a grain of salt) intrusive and controlling!

Re: MIL strikes again

I have a couple of words of advice for you...I could have written half of the same type of drama as you have written. My first and ultimate suggestion is to forget the talk. I know some will disagree with me BUT she is thinking one way and you another...you are never going to show her your way especially if shes stubborn. I did what many would say "talk to her try and work it out". Guess what it didnt go well. We are continuing after that argument but still hold severe grudges and on top of it mine didnt like that she was confronted with the issue either. So in the end we had just another new drama to add to the kettle. What she said was probably very hurtful and very angry but it doesnt change how she feels about it. I think sometimes epsecially with inlaws ya just have to save face and realize its just a few hrs of BS and you get to go home. Now I just do it for my husband.
