I've always associated it with a boys name.. Until a little girl in my DDs gym class was named Arden. I guess it can be one of those unisex names, but in any case, I think its fine for a boy!

I've never heard it as either a boys' or girls' name, so I have no preconceived notion about it, but I like it as a boys' name, if you're looking for something different.
