I dont know the answer but Im curious why youre dreading it? Is it different from the internal sonograms Ive had in the past?

I think mine started at 36 or 37 weeks. I dont think they are that bad, they only last a minute or so.

An internal is when the doctor checks your cervix with their finger to see if you are dilated and/or effaced. For me, it was super uncomfortable (painful!) and I am dreading it too!!
If I remember correctly, my OB started them at 36 weeks.

Re: At what week do they start doing internals?
My dr. didn't start them until my due date. I was always curious before that but I wasn't' complaining. I went two weeks late and only had two internals.

Re: At what week do they start doing internals?
Mine started at 36 weeks and they haven't been painful at all. Only one of them was a bit uncomfortable, but otherwise ok.
I did have two internals before then also when I had to go to L&D and those didn't hurt either.

36 weeks I think?
I thought internals were pretty terrible... and then I had all back labor with DD. I'd take a year's worth of internals over that!

Re: At what week do they start doing internals?
36 but they were completely optional at my OB's office since they're mostly meaningless and don't tell you much of anything.
Mine didn't hurt at all. Usually they put a finger or two in and feel the thickness and the station of the baby by gently pressing against the baby's head and seeing the bounce-back. I did bleed after my first internal, though, which was scary. I didn't after the next two though.
