Dr. Scherzer?

Ok, I have an appointment for my DD on May 15. I read all of these horrible things about him. What do I do? I don't want to wait till November, which is the next available appointment for the other Dev. Ped. Is it even worth going to this appointment? Can a pediatric neurologist dx as efficiently?

He dx my son 5 years ago. He's old yes and quirky (ironic huh) but he was right. I was in denial that my son has ASD but yes he was the only one who called it. Prior to that I supposedly had the best in the business, Marion K and Up Wee Grow (leaving out the Dr.'s names but I'm sure some can figure out who) (One done at 20 months and the next 8 months later) Thye both told me my son was not on the spectrum. Something I'll never forget. If your just going for a dx I would say it's fine. Is he the most caring Dr., out there, no but he was honest and even though at the time I thought he was nuts I guess he spotted something the others missed.

My 3 year old I used Up Wee Grow again, same Dr. it was weird because he made comments how he felt bad about missing Matty's dx so he was giving my other guy a PDD dx and had high hopes someday the label would be removed. Sometimes I wonder if I should have just chosen a Developmental Pedi.

Words cannot express how terribly horrible my experience with him was. I too, asked on here for opinions and people were very honest...and yet I DID NOT LISTEN. I went anyway (because I didnt want to wait). I even went so far to APOLOGIZE to someone on here for NOT listening.

Please save your time. Please save your copay. You will get nothing but a halfassed dx from a 95 year old man who should have retired 30 years ago. I sobbed when I left his office. He made me feel terrible. He made my son feel terrible. I would cancel.

Oh yikes. Ok, I am totally canceling and waiting till June 1 for the ped. Neuro appointment. I have "heard" that he likes to throw around autism too easily.

He's so bad.

I can laugh about it now but his office visit was one of the worst days of my life. I honestly thought I was going to pass out I was so upset.

Don't do it. Just say no.
