Metanx users
Hi ladies...my LO is 7 weeks old. Dr. Kofinas prescribed metanx for me during my pregancy and told me if my insurance covered it to continue post delivery...or to take folic acid.
Here's the thing...when I google metanx it doesn't mention anything about folic acid....it is described as a vitamin B multi...
I guess I should have asked him more about it at the time...I spoke to my internist about staying on and she never really heard of it.
Any thoughts? Did anyone else stay on it and do you know more about it?
TIA

Re: Metanx users
My ins doesn't cover it so it's $65/mo! I'm going to try to fight it though because he said its not just a vitamin that I can get OTC like the ind co thinks. He said with thrombo issues our bodies can't break down folic acid so this is a broken down form of folic acid. He took me off Fabb and put me on Metanx because it replaces it.

Re: Metanx users
I see Dr. Kofinas as well and have been on Metanx my entire pregnancy (30 weeks now with twins). I think you're getting confused because folic acid is actually a B vitamin. Here's a link to the Metanx site that explains the breakdown of the pill: http://www.metanx.com/learn-about-metanx/
My insurance does not cover it, so I pay $65 a month for it. Dr. Kofinas never mentioned continuing it after I have my babies, so I will definitely have to ask about that at my next visit. I don't think I would be willing to continue to spend that kind of money on it though after they are born.
