DOE Teachers- leaves of absences?
If I decide to leave my school and not return in the fall, do I have to quit? Or can I take a leave of absence? If I had to quit, could I ever go back? Would I be able to go back to my school or would I have to find a position?
I am having issues with the DOE and UFT sites. TIA.

To my knowledge.. you can't just take a year off. You ned a reason (personal illness, family illness, childcare, sabbatical, and I want to say the military).

Yes. I do know someone who moved to Chicago and was able to take a leave..she worked in a private school there. It did not work out (she was going to get married) and she returned to my school. I am unclear on specifics though so she may have cited a different reason. I would call UFT and speak to a rep.
