My weight-loss journey (so far)

Thank you so much to everyone who replied to my before/after post, and sent FM! Everyone here is so supportive and encouraging, it really is so helpful to have that kind of community when going through a journey like this.

Quite a few people asked how I did it (am doing it - because it is a lifestyle at this point), so I thought it might be helpful/encouraging/useful/whatever for me to put it all down in one place.

For a few years I had been on and off with working out, but I was never good at eating well. I didn't really like to or know how to cook, and I just enjoyed greasy/unhealthy foods too much. One day, I don't know why, I just decided it was enough. I didn't feel good physically, my blood pressure was high, and I didn't feel comfortable in anything I wore.

I ordered Power 90 which is the first, most basic of the Beachbody home bootcamp programs, and just committed myself to it. Once the DVDs came, I started everything at once. I started tracking alllll my calories and stuck quite strictly to about 1200-1300 calories each day. I exercised 6 days/week. I kept it up just like this for about 75 days, at which point the workouts got too easy but I wanted to finish the 90 days, so I started adding additional workouts, as well as paying closer attention to macronutrients such as protein, carbs, sodium, and fat. I was cooking and preparing more of my own foods, and started trying to follow a clean eating mentality rather than simply calorie counting. After the first 3 months or so I stopped being quite as strict with myself. I moved on to P90X, and incorporated running into my regime. I stopped tracking calories because I had internalized it by then. I did not cut out anything from my diet, but I indulge infrequently. The only thing truly cut out are carbonated drinks. I only drink water. I maintain a clean diet, mostly, that is high in protein and moderate in carbs. Lots of fruit and veggies, only whole grains, lean meats and fish. I still will have popcorn at a movie sometimes, and fries occasionally. I eat pizza and cake/sweets very rarely.

By now I'm doing the Insanity workouts, but I don't really follow the program I just do the workouts. I exercise 4-6 days a week depending on my time. It is a lifestyle now. It is ingrained in me and I just do it.

I have lost about 30 lbs and 5 inches or so all around. I'm very proud and pleased with the results, but am not QUITE at my goal yet - but I'm close! If you have any questions please feel free to ask! And thank you all again for the support and encouragement!!!
