Re: Need Rec for perinatal
I go to Dr. Victor Klein in Great Neck and I can't say enough about him.
I was also recommended to Madonna Perinatal in mineola and Ocean Perinatologists in Lake Success/Plainview
Good Luck!

I don't know where you are located, but I was very happy with Dr. El Kady out of Good Sam in West Islip. The wait is long but worth every second IMO.

No rec's but I'm glad you're going to a Peri for a watchful eye.

You have to speak up and advocte for yourself and the babies. If you want to see a MFM then that is your right. Now if you need a referral you may have to pay OOP if the doc/ins. co doesn't deem it medically necessary. Also, if you are already second guessing your OB, you may want to think about changing and finding someone more in line with your way of thinking and who will have your confidence. It might only be for 9 months (give or take) but that OB relationship is very important.

What OB are you with? I'm having a similar issue at Great Neck ObGyn - supposedly high risk twin specialists, but I have to beg them to check my cervix. I want to see a peri also.

You are absolutely right. I'm usually such a good advocate for myself but I guess in my situation I'm second guessing my own feelings and feel like may be jumping the gun. The ob does want to see me more (1-2weeks) and I have been with the practice forever. I think I'm going to call Monday and insist a doctor calls me back instead o the nurse practitioner and voice my concerns. Oh and other problem is a can't get an appt with my doc yet bc I scheduling conflicts. Ugh!

So frustrating when you almost feel like you are annoying them for just wanting things in my opinion they should be doing. I'm with stony brook obgyn and they do want to see be atleast every two week for sonos. I asked yesterday if they checked my cervix and they reassured me they did during the sonogram so I'm happy about that. There is a part of me that really likes the group but this issue with the clot just make me uneasy and I'm just wondering why they don't send me to a peri. If anything it will give me a piece of mind haha! Did you ask them if they could refer you get? It seems like everyone sees a Peri so I'm just so confused. How often are your visits?

4 weeks apart! Might as well be an eternity! I asked about coming every two weeks & they said no! I now see that it wouldn't really matter b/c their office sono equipment is so bad, they can't use it to measure my cervix! (they have a separate dept for the "big" tests)
I left a msg for the Winthrop high risk group about switching.

Oh man I definitely would change! Even if you have a very easy pregnancy ( hoping u do), I would sti think that with twins you should be seen every two weeks and more towards the end. Good luck with the change and update us:). Btw my ob did say he would send me out for my 20 week sono bc the hospital had top of the line equipment but I'm assuming their own equipment is good bc they were able to check my cervix. Before yesterday I thought it was something the doc actually had to check himself using his fingers!

Re: Need Rec for perinatal
They check the cervix with the transvaginal sono then they use the regular to see the babies. My ob has ok equip. but the peri does all my scans. The peri is basically the main dr then I see ob every 3 weeks and they will deliver. When I go to the ob it's almost a waste of time.
