Those who were on BC... UPDATED
How many CD did it take for AF to come?
I was irregular pre-BC (this is going back to 19 - I'm not 31). I never thought i'd say this, but I'd like for AF to come so I can figure out how long my cycle is and when I'm O'ing.
Maybe I should have gotten off the BC sooner
CD 57 and finally AF

Re: Those who were on BC...
my first cycle off bcp was 35 days and unfortunately that seems to be my norm. try not to stress (i know, easier said than done) and a few days after af is gone i would def recommend testing with opks so you can learn your cycle.
i feel the same away about wishing i stopped bcp earlier...but we are still young good luck

Re: Those who were on BC...
Mine came petty regularly afterward. I think you just revert to whatever you were before birth control.

This exactly. Though a strange month here and there is also perfectly normal.

Agree. I was very regular afterwards. Really depends on the person.

Mine came back quickly and was back to normal right away. A friend of mine has PCOS and before BC, her periods were all over the place. Some months she wouldn't get it at all, other months she would get it twice in one month, other times, she would have it for 2 weeks straight. After BC, she got her period pretty regularly. I think her longest cycle was 35 days. And she got her BFP after just 4 months.

Re: Those who were on BC...
I was on Seasonique where you get your period every 3 months. I was 2 months into a pack when I stopped. I got AF about 5 days after stopping my pack. Now I'm on CD17 of this cycle and just hoping and praying to ovulate. I have this awful worry that BC messed up my cycles. I have no reason to think this because I was really regular before BC but I am a super worrier like that.

Re: Those who were on BC...
Stopped BC after being on it for 11 years. First month off it. I got my period right on schedule, but I only had it for 3 days which is very unusual for me. We will see what happens this month.

Re: Those who were on BC...
Thanks ladies!! I'll keep you posted. Right now I'm CD 32. I guess that isn't so bad. I was irregular prior to bc, but I'm hoping that has changed in the past 12 years. I guess its just a waiting game for now, and then test to see when O.
Any suggestions on where to gt those tests

Re: Those who were on BC...
Do you know why you were irregular before?
I never got my period after going off BC. After 90 days, my GYN did an u/s and prescribed me provera for a forced withdrawal because my lining was getting too thick. My second cycle after that was exactly 85 days. It took 2 years and losing 35 lbs and exercising 4-5 days a week for me to start getting somewhat regular cycles of 59 and 35 days, switching off every other cycle.
(I was diagnosed with PCOS after DD was born, although I still doubt the diagnosis somewhat...)
My cycles were originally irregular/non-existent before going on the pill at 18 y/o because of cysts on my ovaries.
Hope you get it soon! I'd definitely be in touch with your GYN/OB in case they want to monitor you to see what's going on, especially if it's a different doctor than who originally prescribed you the pill all those years ago.

Re: Those who were on BC...
The first time I went off BC it took 42 days to get af. The second time I went off I never got it and after 64 days my OB prescribed provera. I was always irregular before I orignallly went on it at 17, so I knew I would be after I went off it as well. I would wait a little longer and if she doesn't show within the next few weeks I would call your ob/gyn to see what they advise. GL!

Re: Those who were on BC...
My first 2 cycles were 32/33 days. My 3rd cycle was 67. After that I averaged 37 days.

I was never diagnosed with anything, honestly. It was just rare to get af the same time or basically every month. My doctor at the time wasn't concerned. As I am Cd 33, i think (last af was 4/20) I'm not concerned just yet. I'm going to wait a little longer and then call the doctor. I keep having these reoccurring dreams that this is going to be a long road ahead, and I'm not getting any younger.

Update at top.
Now since my cycle is so long, when should I start using opks?

Re: Those who were on BC... UPDATED
It's hard to say, but I would say to start around CD 11 or so and just keep testing everyday. You might go through a few packs of OPKs in one cycle. The month I conceived my daughter I got a positive opk on CD 30.
