DS had his kindergarten assessment test today
He said that he did not know one question - what was his sex. I said to him are you a boy or a girl. He said a boy. So I said to him that is what the teacher was asking you. He looked at me in the eye and said, well why didn't she ask me that? I am a boy, she can see that I am a boy. Why would that even be a question.
The other things they tested were drawing a picture of a person (he said he chose to draw a picture of his father for father's day), matching shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle, pentagon, star), numbers 1-10, writing his name, telling her his address, phone number, date of birth, matching colors on blocks, making a shape out of the blocks (he said he made a snake), telling her which objects were the same or different. He said he thought he did well because she kept checking the same row on his sheet and the only one she did not check was for knowing "sex." I am surprised they asked that word rather than male/female, or boy/girl.

Re: DS had his kindergarten assessment test today
I agree asking the sex is a strange way of asking a kindergartner his gender. But not to worry. They just want to see if there are any deficiencies.
When my son went, they asked him to count the number of fire engines. Then later pointed out one he missed & he said "that's not a fire engine. That's the pumper truck."
I think it's hilarious that a 5 year old is thinking someone is an idiot because they're asking such an obvious question.
