SLCD vs. Barbara C. Wilson

My daughter suffers speech and physical therapy issues. She is not on the spectrum. We were just accepted to SLCD but were told to hold off by a credible source until we hear back from Barbara C. Wilson. Does anyone have any experience with either of these schools? What are the negatives? Why were we told to hold off? Is BCW considered a better school and why? Lastly, we were shocked when we heard the SLCD accepts nearly everyone...we were impressed with their 12-2-2 ratio, the way the staff dressed, the cleanliness of the building, the computer room, library, gym, etc. and can't figure out ourselves why other schools would fill up much more quickly the SLCD.

We are incredibly grateful for any input anyone can provide. Thank you so much for taking the time to give us as much or little info you have.

Best Always

Having toured one and worked in the other, I would send my own child to SLCD over Barbara Wilson 10000%

My 3 year old (also not on the spectrum) is finishing year one at BCW and the growth she has shown in a year is amazing. She barely spoke at all when she started and now has an amazing receptive and expressive vocabulary. My experience has been that the teachers, aides and therapists and social workers are very caring, open to questions from parents and that it is a very collaborative program. Also has great Parents Association of very caring parents who provide a great network for support and also information for weekend and after school programs in the County.

My dd went to BCW and was in the integrated program (they dont have that anymore). she loved it, i loved it and she grew so much, emotionally and behaviorally. the parent association is very involved.

i have no negatives about scld, i dont know anyone who has gone there.
