You'd think after applying makeup to myself for 25+ years i would know the answer to this by now! Chat Icon

Is your foundation color supposed to completely match your skin tone, or is is supposed to be a shade slightly darker?
I have two colors of a mousse foundation that i really love.. but can't figure out which color to continue using.

Re: liquid foundation

i always use a color slightly lighter so it blends well...then use a bronzer to dark in areas. you dont want your neck lighter than your face.

I also use a shade slightly lighter because I use blush or bronzer so it adds color.

Same here. Mine is very, very close to my skin color though. But I don't know if there's any trick to it. I just stand there and put them on my hand until I find one that I think matches best.

Never darker!! You will have a mask like ring...always use your wrist to check color...go lighter if anything.

Don't use your wrist, it's never as tan as your face. Match it against your jawline

Re: liquid foundation

A tip i got from a makeup artist. Use 2 colors. and blend them together to get a good match. Your foundation should match your neck.
