2 month old baby
my baby is 7 weeks old and the amount of formula he is taking is increasing every day it has gone from 3.5 to sometimes 5.5 oz. I have been feeding him every 3 hours but I feel that its a little too much for every 3 hours......he just continues eating but he arches his back like its too much. I am trying to push it to every 4 hours instead. How much is your 2 month old baby eating?

If he arches his back and doesn't want it then don't force it.

I have tried that but I as soon as stop he starts crying for and starts sucking on his bib like he wants more....?????
he was arching his back at the three hour feeding and just wanted to continue feeding thats why i figured to stretch to four hour.

Re: 2 month old baby
My DS is 8 weeks old and at the moment drinks 3 oz every 2 hours during the day and at night drinks the same every 4hrs. When he was 6 weeks old he was crying for more so I upped it to 4 oz every 2 hours. After about a week he would leave 1oz in the bottle so I went back to making 3oz bottles to not waste the formula or BM. Maybe once a day now he will look for more milk, in which I will just add an ounce to his bottle after he finishes. Even when he drinks 4Oz. exactly 2 hours later like clockwork he is looking to eat again.

Sounds like it may be a growth spurt. If he's finishing the bottle.. they need more.

Re: 2 month old baby
I am torn on what to do.....so far today he has finished 5 oz every for the 7 and 11 feeding. He seems to be content when he is done and after about a 15 minutes of tummy time and playing he seems to want to nap.
Do you girls think he is too little to eat every 4 hours? I don't want to starve him.

I'm a first time mommy so take this with a grain of salt, but if he is hungry he will cry, start rooting, and smacking his lips if he wants more. I feel like if he will last 4 hours, then that's good. If all else fails, just ask your pediatrician what they think.

ditto. DS#1 was drinking 8ozs every 4 hours at 7 weeks old. For his growth spurt he went to nearly 10ozs and our ped had us put cereal in his bottle to slow him down. He was just a very hungry baby.
Now with DS#2 he has been having anywhere from 4-6ozs every 3 hours since 4 weeks old. Our ped said its fine. Remember all babies are different.

Re: 2 month old baby
thank you so much. The arching thing always leaves me in the dark b/c he does the arching thing about every 2 oz when he wants/needs to burp.....so far he is still sleeping so we'll see. I will be waking him soon.
