Any good races on LI this summer that would be good for a walker?

Any good races on LI this summer that would be good for a walker?
I am trying to persuade my father to do a race with me but he needs to walk it---anything up to a half marathon.
I'd love something with a good pretty view!

On Aug. 11th, there is a 5K at Sands Point called "Sprint for the Feinstein Institute"... I've done it the past few years & the course is very pretty.
I think that's so nice that your dad is going to do races with you.... I convinced my mom to do a 4-mile race with me a few weeks ago (she's not a runner so she walked it), I was worried she'd be bored or not enjoy it but she LOVED it & keeps asking me about signing up for another one.

Sounds great, I'll look into it! I don't know LI races at all!
My dad has supported me on the sidelines at a few of my half marathons and I want him to exercise more so its more like I'm dragging him and making him train on his own beforehand. I have to make the race worth it though!

It's usually in June but I've done the AIDS/CANCER 5k and there are usually a decent number of walkers. Not sure where they are having it this year. It has been at Cedar Creek park in the past- the course is pretty flat and easy.

On June 30th in Long Beach there's the Sean Ryan 5k on the boardwalk. Can't beat the ocean view...and you can use your race number to get on the beach for free afterwards!

I think I'm coming out to LI on Saturday and walking this with my dad on Sunday! Thanks! I'll also look into other races---Cedar Creek is very convenient from my parents house!
