When to see a high risk OB?
I just had my 2nd consecutive miscarriage and wonder if I'm a candidate for a high risk OB.
I'm in my late 30's now and with my first, I also had GD.
I'm wondering when do you know you need to see a high risk OB and are charges more for high risk OBs?
TIA.

Re: When to see a high risk OB?
I am so sorry
I'm not sure having m/cs makes you high risk. But theres no harm in talking to one to find out. What does your current OB recommed?

Re: When to see a high risk OB?
Thanks ladies, I heard that older women and those who have had GD are considered high risk, I fall into both category so maybe I should call a high risk OB for my next pregnancy....?
I've heard about Dr. B but I'm in NJ and work in the city. I can probably see a NYC doc if anyone has one to recommend.
TIA.

Re: When to see a high risk OB?
I cant speak to whether youd need to see a high risk ob once pregnant but im wondering if you should see an RE or RI to see whats causing the recurrent miscarriages and to possibly prevent another. Thats why i asked if you knew the reasons for the losses

Re: When to see a high risk OB?
I had 2 early miscarriages and I'm pregnant again now and am not considered high risk. My doctor doesn't consider me high risk because this pregnancy has been completely normal. I'm in my early 30's I don't know if age is a factor.

Re: When to see a high risk OB?
Recurrent miscarriage does put you in a high risk category along with your age. I would see a Perinatologist prior to TTC again for a consultation. Not sure where you live but may I suggest : North Shore Maternal Fetal Medicine 865 Northern Blvd Great Neck, NY 516-622-5177 is the NP Michelle Anderson you have to speak to her first(on the phone) she takes your background and then requests your medical records then schedules you a consult with one of the Maternal/Fetal Docs.

Re: When to see a high risk OB?
My OB says that there isn't a need to see a specialist or high risk ob unless you have had 3 MC in a row. (out of 5 pregnancies...i've had 2 MC in a row, successful preg with my DS then MC..and now maybe pregg again) I also had GD when I was pregnant with my DS.
I would ask your OB and then if you still want seek out some RE's or High Risk docs to see if they would take you on.
Good Luck
