Tourettes in Toddler?
Just wondering if anyone has or knows of a toddler with tourettes. My son had a tick of twitchin his eyes then it stopped and now he sniffs his hands. I looked in up on the internet and it said tourettes then I spoke to my pediatrian who also felt thats what it was and I should see a neurologist.. Just wondering if anyone has had similar signs or also if it could cause behavioral issues because we are having some major behavioral issues with him as well... TIA..

I recommend you get a comprehensive evaluation for him! How old is he? If he is under 3, call your county. Over 3, call your school district. I would do this ASAP!!!!
Good luck - FM me if you need any more info!

Re: Tourettes in Toddler?
I always thought that tourettes was marked by a vocal tic in addition to other, nonverbal tics.
I would see a neuro for an eval either way. Good luck!

Re: Tourettes in Toddler?
Thanks ladies... I actually have a neuro apt set up for July. Im not sure I spoke to my ped who told me see a neurologist.. she said it could be minor tourettes she said she has many patients with tics that do not require meds and most kids even lost the tics by like 8 years old. I had him evaluated he only qualified for speech and ot and just last week he concluded his last ot service and no longer qualifies for anyting. thank you so much ladies

Re: Tourettes in Toddler?
My best friend from college married a man with tourettes (not something most people would really notice unless they were around him constantly). He clears his throat a lot, has a slight thing where he turns his head etc..their three boys are high risk for tourettes and the 7 year old started showing signs at 2. Things like eye movements and something else that i don't remember. But at 7 years old he doesn't tic anymore. They are still not sure if it will develop into tourettes or not, i think they took a wait and see approach.
Glad you have an appointment. It may not be tourettes at all, some kids have tics that come and go during peaks of milestone developments. And if it does happen to be that, there are so many variations...I know my friends husband had the hardest time around puberty but as he got older, it lessened and there is medication to help if needed. Best of luck to you!

Re: Tourettes in Toddler?
Ny husband has Tourettes. He's never had any vocal tics. But since he was a kid, he's had motor tics. They are mostly on his face- just constant little twitches. Sounds like similar to your son.
