Torticolis in newborn

So apparently all of my kids are destined to have head issues.

DS#3 is 11 weeks old and definitely has torticolis. It's pretty bad. DS#1 had it but not until he was 5mo and it wasn't nearly as bad.

Anyone else dealt w/ this at such a young age?

my friend's DS has it, and has been receiving PT for it. He's 4 months and has been getting PT for a while already I think. Chat Icon

DS had it and I think it was diagnosed at 3 months. He had PT for a few months and got better.

Catching it early is best. If you can start the exercises and positioning early there is better success. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

DD was diagnosed with it by our pediatrician at 13w. She started receiving physical therapy for it the following week, and a month later, it was hugely, noticeably better. She was in weekly PT for 3 months. By 6 months of age, you would never know she'd ever had it.

Good luck! Chat Icon

Re: Torticolis in newborn

My son was diagnosed at his 1 month checkup. We had him evaluated through early intervention and he didn't qualify so we were going to bring him privately. It only took the stretching at the evaluation and one other session plus following all of the advice to fix itself.

I highly recommend the PT we used- Linda Finneran in Wantagh.
