Painful knot in my shoulder
I have a terrible knot near my left shoulder blade and don't know how to treat it. I get these frequently, but this one is the worst I have ever had. I went for a 30 min. massage for just that area the other day and it helped a little, but not for long. Its so bad now that I am having trouble sitting at my desk. Any ideas on how to treat this or what to do for it would be greatly appreciated!

You could go to Physical Therapy if your insurance permits. If you don't need a referral NYS allows you to go as "direct access" which means you can go without a prescription for 10 visits or 30days, whichever comes first. That may help! They'll give you excercises to loosen it, massage it and likely do heat on it. It should help! Good Luck!

Agreed. I get these from running (not loosening my shoulders) and sitting at my desk all day. Massages don't always help but a chiropractor may be able to help a bit more by using stim and heat---I'd try that too.

Re: Painful knot in my shoulder
a neurologist can give you a trigger shot (muscle relaxer directly into the knot) if it's bad enough or any dr can give you a script for a regular muscle relaxer. other than that, i'd say physical therapy (they'll do exercises, heat, and probably TENS machine) and lots of water.

I get these sometimes- so bad that I can't even turn my head. I usually see a chiropractor when I do- Dr. Gregory Bark, in Massapequa. (516) 799-6767. He is the best!! I cannot recommend him strongly enough.
