2 y.o.water-in-ear remedy?
My 2 year old spent the afternoon yesterday in her little pool for the first time, sunblocked and with a hat. When I went to clean her ears after the pool and after her bath, she shrank back when i cleaned her right ear. Then, she was crying/whining for most of the night, all sweaty, rubbing her ears/back of the head, but with no fever.
I'm thinking she might have gotten water stuck in her ear. Does anyone have experience with this? Will it go away on its own? Do i need to bring her to the doc? Is there something I should give her?

I am pretty sure that CVS and other pharmacies sell drops that you can put in a child's ear to dry out the pool water.

Not sure if you can use this on a 2 year old but my mom always made a solution for us: 1 part vinegar 2 parts rubbing alcohol
always worked but you may want to ask your ped if it is ok for a 2 yo

do a quick search for "swimmer's ear" and you should come up with links for home remedies to prevent it. I believe that you use either a mixure of hydrogen peroxide and water, or just plain hydrogen peroxide. I've used just hydrogen peroxide and DS has been fine - I put a Q-tip in the bottle so it's saturated and then let a drop drip into his ear (I did not put the Q-tip in). I would do 1-2 drops per ear after swimming.

Re: 2 y.o.water-in-ear remedy?
DS is 4yo and was just seen for swimmers ear. It was minor and didn't need meds. Doc recommended 1 part white vingear to 1 part rubbing alcohol. This will dry out the water and keep the ph balanced. She said to do it each night after he swims.
Not sure if that is what to do for a 2yo. Doesn't hurt to call and ask.

I would just buy the drops from the pharmacy. It will dry it right out.
