need help.....

We moved. Tge boys love the house. Trying to make long story short. Chris is more out of control than ever. I know he needs to get used to it. I need to as well. My inlaws are having a tough time with him, and im crying everyday. I always need help going out to alone because chris is so hyper. We have done everything. But dh and i are giving in and think it maybe time for meds. Who do u go to? A neurologist, dev. Ped? Thanks.

Sorry, you have been having a tough time. Things will fall into place.

Where are you located? We see a Pediatric Neuro in Plainview.

A move is big thing. We moved 2 years ago and DD took pretty well to it. I did make sure though that her room was the same as it was in the old house. Same color, same furniture/toys. This gave her (in my mind) a little safe haven as she new where everything was and she was comfortable. After a few months we started changing a few things around. I will say though she still asks when we are going "home" to the old house.

As far as meds...we are actually looking into that route as well for anxiety issues and we are going to dev ped. Not sure if that is right but i had the appointment anyway so we'll see.

I don't have the answer to your question but have you thought about respite? It's a life saver. We have a wonderful girl who comes Saturday's and spends the day with my son swimming. It's such a huge relief for me and so much fun for him. If you need info on how I got it, pm me. (and it's free you just have to file it the right way)

Re: need help.....

i hope no one minds me posting here....

my niece is autistic and over the past 2 years her behavior got worse..she started biting and hitting..she would have like a meltdown for about 5 min then get upset and be fine

it was very hard to watch bc after she was done she cried like she did not understand why she just acted like thatChat Icon

they rec. meds and my siter said no at first bc she just wanted to try other methods..we did music therapy bc music seemed to calm her down, they gave her things to bite down on when she became aggressive but after a few times it was not working and when she went after her brother and sisters my sis knew something else had to change

the neurologist rec buspar(think that is how it is spelled) and she has been a diff kid since then and even her teachers say in school it has helped with her pecs therapy and concentration etc

idk if this applies to your son,if this med would be good for him, just wanted to share her experience bc it helped them both out alot

good luck

Re: need help.....

We went to see a neurophsycologist for my son Dr. Coban in Massapequa Park. We have started biofeedback with him and we have seen amazing results. For us, our insurance covers it (minus the copay). It has helped improve his tantrums, his speech and ability to communicate with us.
