How can I get 1st appt sooner?

Hello lovely ladies...I introduced myself in the march 2013 post. I am only 4w1d today!

My dr will not see me until I am 7-8 weeks. My first appt is in august at the 7 week mark.

I am dying to go to the dr to confirm and get a sono so I can feel better about everything and start telling my immediate family.

I have heard that going too early can be frustrating if you dont see anything or dont see the heartbeat yet. But I just want to see somethingggggg!

Any suggestions/advice? or should I just s*ck it up and deal?

if you feel that strongly about it, you can try speaking with the doctor's office and scheduling it a week earlier. I wouldn't suggest earlier than that because, as you said, you might not see anything.

The only confirmation I've ever been able to get was a blood test. I never knew how far along I was so they did that just to give me a ballpark date. I got an HCG# and this time a progesterone #.

My first actual appointments were 8 w with #1 and 7 w 5 d with #2.

Maybe ask for a blood test this week if you want confirmation? Otherwise they have the same pee stick tests there you have at home.

Most drs will want you to do a blood test. You should be able to schedule a nurses visit and take a blood test to confirm pregnancy and then go back two days later to make sure that the HCG double. However, it is pretty standard that most drs wont make an appt until the 8 wk mark.

if you are 4w1d did you just get a BFP yesterday or today? cause you def wont see anything on a sono until your beta is higher.

if your doctor wont see you sooner there is nothing you can do short of outright lying about your LMP or spotting but i feel like all of that is very bad karma. i would wait it out. or maybe ask for bloodwork. a sono wont show anything truly useful (ie a heartbeat) until at least 6w anyway. you can go earlier and see a sac or a pole or whatever but the chances of mc go down dramatically once a solid heartbeat is seen.

You can ask to have your beta checked. A sonogram really isn't going to show you anything. The only way to possibly get in earlier is if you're having bleeding and even then the doctor might not see you.

I'd leave the dr appt as is, but ask to go for a beta (as suggested above).

u could be infertile ...thats why some of us got seen earlier but trust me u do not want that

it is pretty stander ed to be seen that time and unless u have a history of losses or fertility issues no reason to worry

trust me i know how hard it is not to worry..i worry every single minute of every single day

the diff between sonos at 6 and then at 7 is huge

i know it feels like forever but call them and try to get 7 week on the dot if u can and if u cannot do not worry!

u will be there before u know it hearing ur babies heartbeat

The only way to get in sooner is if there is an issue. My doc wouldnt budge. You dont want issues. the other way is if you had some assistance in getting pregnant adn were seeing a specialist. They will confirm right away. .Good luck. take it easy.. try callingyour doc..

my doctor said there is no way they will see you before 7 weeks. there is nothing to see and then it just makes you worry even more. when i asked about bloodwork she told me that even checking betas isnt always helpful because the "normal" range varies so much. unfortunately i think you just need to hang in there and hope for the best.

You're better off waiting because of you go too early they may not be able to detect anything with the sono and then you're in for a lot of unnecessary stress and heartache while you wait a week two for a follow up sono. That's what happened to me and I wish I had just waited it out because it was torture hoping for a week that they'd see something at the second sono. But in my case they only even took me early because I had been spotting.

I had one-sided pain so my OB wanted to rule out an ectopic and I went in super early, right around 4-5 weeks. We got to see a sac in the uterus which was great but that's all we saw. It didn't mean that I necessarily would go on to have a successful pregnancy (I did and am now almost 34 weeks) so it didn't sway me to tell anyone about the pregnancy bc it wasn't really confirming much... I know how tough it is not to worry, especially that early in the game, but I promise you it will go by fast!!
