What size back pack for Kindergarten?
What size backpack did you get your Kindergartener? Pottery barn kids recommends the small backpack (not the preschool one but the medium size one) for kids 4-8 (I think it says for kids up to 49 inches - DD is just under 42 inches). Her supply list says she needs a Large backpack.

I was told large enough so that a regular sized folder fits.

What size back pack for Kindergarten?
We got the small from Potterybarn for DD last year. She is 42inches. It fits a folder and a few note books and her lunchbox. Things do get a little crammed in but the next size up is so big she would look ridiculous carrying it. We are getting the same size this year as well.

Yes - that and lunchbox.
Our SD gives each child a really sturdy folder that does not have much give.

I got them both Junior backpacks from LLBean. They are a perfect size for their little backs and everything they need fits in them very nicely!

I bought the small for Pre-K, and it's big enough for Kindergarten. I'm royally pissed though because we bought the matching lunchbox so I would have it for K, and it was never used for pre-k, and the strap that attaches it severed completely for no reason recently. The bag held a plastic folder all year, so it wasn't like it was overloaded. I emailed Pottery Barn, and unfortunately they don't stand by their products like Lands End does (I thought they did).

Last year in K my ds used the Large sized PBK backpack (Darth Vader). It held up really well and he's using it again for 1st grade.
