Besides money, what are some things that you need to have to adopt. For example, would sharing a room be OK or do you have to have a private room for the new child?

Also what are some disqualifiers? Like do they disqualify you if you have an anxiety disorder or mood disorder?

As I continue on my IF journey I worry that if I can not get PG, my chances of having a second child end there. I feel like aside from having to find money someone might tell us we are not worthy to adopt.

Like someone else said it makes me so angry that it is so hard for us, yet others who really have no money, no space, no common sense, have child after child.

Re: money spin off

Sharing a room with a same sex sibling is totally fine.

If your income is below the poverty line you cannot adopt a child. If you have been convited of a crime against a child or a felony you cannot adopt a child. If you have untreated pysch issues you may be disqualified. I saw a therapist for my PPD for a few months and that was FINE. None of us are perfect!!!Few of us are rich. My social worker as well as others I have heard of tell you that they are there to help you adopt, not to keep you from adopting a child. They really want good parents for children.

As long as you have a criminal background to hide, you have nothing to worry about. Some programs are stricter than others, however. For example, with the Korea program, you must be married three years, you can't be obese, can't ever have had a divorce and no history of serious psychological issues. There were two Korean programs to choose from though, one of which was stricter than the other. Korea is also the strictest of the countries I researched in terms of requirements. You definitely will NOT be ruled out as an adoptive mommy. Sharing a room with siblings is definitely ok. Chat Icon

Yeah, that's one of the quirkier requirements of Korea's program. You can't be over a certain percentage overweight; I assume because the health risks are higher for overweight people. Chat Icon

I think so ....A friend of DH's said him and his wife were turned down by two programs ( not sure where) because they were both fairly overweight. I felt horrible about that. I guess I " understand" but no one would tell them if naturally having a baby that they were in the wrong. Dont see how it takes away from wanting a baby, being a good parent., but since theres not much you can do, no sense in complaining about it. Just sad.
