If your kids love trains you should go to the oyster bay train museum. They have an outdoor yard with real old train cars they can go and play in.

It does. Id get there right when they open and its free (donations only). If you want to make a day out of it they have picnic tables right there too. Then you can go see the ducks afterwards.
