I am so proud of Sandy

We have had Sandy crated since we got her whenever we left the house. She destroyed our apartment when she was like 8 months old.....she is two now. We left her out of her crate, with free roam of our new house this weekend in 3-4 hour increments and she did GREAT !!!

no pee, no poop, no destruction. I am so proud !!!

Unfortunately, we crated her today becasue I think 8 hours is too much to expect from her right now.....baby steps !!!!

edited for spelling

That's great! Sandy may be out of that stage. I used to crate my Jack Russel but started letting him stay out since Thanksgiving. He has destroyed that house on more then one occassion, hence why he was crated. Well, he has yet to return to the crate and hasn't had any episodes. Sandy is probably growing up!

I hope so, I would love to leave her out all day. I do believe that destruction is a phase that they grow out of....oy, you should have seen my apartment that day.....DH got home before me and this is what he walked into....

1) the back of our couch was ripped (we think she was trying to hide her bone in there Chat Icon ) The couch was only 2 months old

2) She ate 10 of DH cd's.....she had some hanging out of her mouth when DH came home

3) She ate my plastic coupon holder and was spitting up green plastic all night

4) She chewed on the legs of the entertainment center.....

When I got home, I could not help but to laugh....DH was NOT happy but we got over it...she was only a puppy...she didn't mean to be bad.....Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

If it helps...

This is what destruction our little one got in to:

- Destroyed a recliner by ripping up the cushions

- Ripped up two full bags of paper recycling plus 8 rolls of paper towels and all the mail on the kitchen table into the tiniest little pieces.

- Ripped up all the house plants so dirt covered the entire living room floor.

- He would eat anything plastic that was left out

_ He like to play tug of war with the curtins on the windows as well as the couch.

These are the things I remember. But like I said in my other post, he has been out for months and nothing. He sleeps all day!

Re: I am so proud of Sandy

I have to add Misty to this listChat Icon

She ate...
half a coffee table
DH's wallet
three pairs of shoes
two CD's
a leg of the kitchen table
the cat's scratching post
and of course - the Gorilla GlueChat Icon

But, on the bright side - we have been leaving her out for up to 4 hours lately and she has been such a good girl!!!!!! We can't wait until we don't HAVE to crate her when we leaveChat Icon
