Constipation help needed!
DD is now 20 months old. What can I give her to help her go? She has been in so much pain.

Re: Constipation help needed!
Straight up pear juice has always worked for DS. 4-6 oz a day. Fresh fruit is another thing that works. Grapes and watermelon. We have Glycerin suppositories for extreme cases..

If she is in pain, give her at most half a glycerin suppository i like Fleet brand so that she can go now. To prevent it make her eat lots of fiber and drink lots of water. Besides fruits and veggies, whole wheat has fiber. Traders joes has whole wheat mini bagels with 11% dv of fiber that my DD loves. Also oatmeal has lots of fiber. Try to limit bananas and dairy to prevent constipation.

Re: Constipation help needed!
Thanks! I'll have to try those.
It's been hurting her to go so now she's holding it in and I don't know how to get her to go anymore.

Re: Constipation help needed!
Miralax works but it takes a few days to kick in. 1/4-1/2 cap.. It REALLY made my son go and we had to stop it..

Re: Constipation help needed!
Curious, is she potty trained?
prunes, pears, spinach, kale, yogurt ... all work for us
And plenty of water!

Re: Constipation help needed!
these past few weeks, ive noticed that when i give my little guy fruit first thing in the morning, it helps him to go later in that same day... for example, this morning i cut up a whole plum for him while i was making french toast and he pooped a little while later
like previous posters said, spinach, cooked pears- someone recently told me kiwi- i havent tried it yet
my little guys been dealing with poop issues for a long time-we used benefiber for a long time and i think they made his poops more compacted and harder to pass. ive used pedialax and it helped, but from what ive read here and heard from friends, i think miralax might work a little bit better
our pediatrician told us to try the pedialax because she felt that he was afraid to go and was holding it in, making the cycle worse- using pedialax for a few weeks to make it easier to go might take away the fear of going, and in the meantime, maybe you can try giving her more of the foods suggested- and ive also read that decreasing the amount of dairy foods and rice and applesauce should help
