Staggered start dates for kindergarten
Our school staggers the start date for kindergarten, meaning they start a few kids a day the first week of school and then the Friday of that week is the first day that all kids are in the class together.
My question is this: DH is home the first two days of that week. He is out of town for business on the others. If we get assigned a date that he is not here, is it crazy for me to call the school and ask them to move her date? This is her first day of real school and we both want to see her off.

My district doesnt do that...all of the kids start on the same day. I would call though and ask if they could make an exception and move the date. It can't hurt to ask! I would do the same thing!

That's very inconsiderate of working parents, especially in today's economy.

I would ask, but I would call now to ask that it be scheduled that way. That may be easier for the school, rather than trying to juggle later on.

I agree. Calling once they've set the date means changing the numbers (and possibly the class!) in a short time. It may be easier to switch a kid's start date now than to rearrange.
