UPDATE SELDEN FLORIST: terribly messing up a funeral floral arrangement!
I purchased a $160+ floral arrangement for my step-father. I was ordering it over the phone, while looking at a website photo & specified "I like the design on the arrangement, but change out the pink, it was obviously for a man's funeral."
I arrive and it's PINK....bow too!
I called during the wake break to request it changed, they couldnt because of no drivers. I then requested it to be changed before the next day's wake & funeral, which wasnt beginning until 10am. They again said they couldn't....mean while they were LITERALLY 6 miles away AND affiliated with the funeral home.
In my mind INEXCUSABLE.
Is it wrong to want a full refund, since I gave them the opportunity to correct it?
ETA: I went back to look at their website & the arrangements don't even show bows on them, so I'm unclear as to why they would even put a bow on & choose pink without asking or thinking in terms of a man!
And of course their website says satisfaction guaranteed.

UPDATE: So I did file a dispute with my credit card company & over a month later SELDEN FLORIST on Middle Country Road, didn't even have the decency to reply to the credit card company either. So it was resolved in my favor, but sadly they didn't even care to admit how wronge they were & how poorly they treated a customer.
And worse, it's a funeral AND my mother used THEIR family's funeral home for the services!
APPAULING!

not wrong AT ALL, the first reason was an excuse, they probably didn't you'd call back to fix it. I get that you very specific with them, so yea get ur money back.

I would demand a partial refund. That is inexcusable. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. If you paid by cc, I would call them and complain too.

I did pay by CC.
They told me to call the morning of the funeral (when the owner was in), I tried, but had to go while on hold because it was right before it was going to start. So I didnt again get a chance to call until after the funeral & she was gone. They almost made it sound like, "she was waiting for your call, it's now 1." (like it was my fault to not have called sooner. Then tells me she might not be able to call me Monday, since it's busy prom time. I LOST IT at that point! As if prom compares to a funeral F UP!
I basically demanded to then have call me today, explaining I would be driving back to NC, have 2 young kids, have her call me when it's convenient, rather than me keep trying. SHE DIDN'T. I call them at 2:30 today, she was gone for the day. About 1/2 hr later she calls from her car, not having the order or any specific info in front. She just remembers writing to change the roses from pink to white. So I asked, when someone says it's obviously for a man, make it masculine, you think keeping pink flowers & a pink bow is ok?! Mind you, I had my mother & sister order from them too, since she was so nice over the phone taking my order.

I would go on yelp and every other similar site and write a horrible review. That usually gets a reaction from the owner.
I am so sorry for your loss.

I would also let the funeral home know what the florist did, since the florist is affiliated and most likely recommended by the funeral home, how the florist did not correct the mistakes, and how the issue has not been resolved to your satisfaction yet.

I dont think the funeral home will care much, since it's their daughter who opened the florist.
BTW......Selden Florists was the business!

Wow! That is totally unacceptable! I would want a full refund and truly that's not even enough considering the situation!
I live in the area and I will be sure to never use that florist!

The funeral home is next door, correct?
I've heard (way back when) that they "recycle" funeral arrangements, since the family owns both the funeral home and florist, and re-sell them. Not sure if its true, just something I heard. Sounds like that could have happened to you.

I'm really sorry that you had to go through that.  I worked at a florist in the area (NOT that one) and have heard many terrible stories about that place. They do, in fact, recycle flowers and stands used at the funeral home next door (and possibly others) which is a big, big no-no to respectable shops. Their policy is to basically go pick the floral arrangemets clean that are left behind and use the flowers again. Do they give a discount for the used flowers? Nope. Totally disgusting. Your situation is very sad but unfortuntaly, not unique. I have NEVER said no to someone who was grieving and had a complaint. Flowers are cheap to fix but a reputation isn't!

Wow...that's horrible! I never even thought that mine could be a reused one! 
Yes, they are about 6 miles up the road. I think it's the daughter who opened the florist.
My next is BBB to write a formal complaint!

Not surprising at all. I used to work for a different florist and we always knew that Selden Florist would re-use flower from funerals, they would go back and take the arrangements back to the store and either resend it back out again or take it apart and use it in other arrangements. I once had to go to Giove to fix an arrangement and the guy was in there taking arrangements back that were from OTHER florists, they were like vultures. I would never ever use them

Doesn't the funeral home, pack up all the flowers to bring to the cemetary, or for the family to take home?
After my grandmother's and dad's funeral, some were left at the cemetary and we took the rest home. I'm pretty sure nothing was left behind.

It depends. At Arlington, you are only aloud 3 arrangements. So we left the others there & then picked them up afterwards. But if you don't take them the Funeral Home "disposes" of them.
