Boy Name Help!
I need Thoughts on this situation regarding our DS2 name. We had a name picked out we both loved (we don't tell people our name choices). I then find out my male coworker and his wife are naming their son the same name we loved. Now since they didn't know our name what are your thoughts on us naming our DS the same name. Mind you she is due 2 weeks before me?
Please tell me what you think is right. My gut tells me I just can't. But other than work there is no interaction between us.

Of course you can use the name! You have no interaction besides work, what is the difference. I don't see any reason not too.

A name is a name for life, I wouldn't care if it was my best friend to be honest.
ETA: It's not like you took it b/c of that person you both happen to like the same name, it happens.

Boy Name Help!
if it was a name i loved, there is no way i would change it because of a co-worker. (i would tell said co-worker at the time i realized, but that's because i can't help but share names beforehand) I don't even think i would change it if a friend of mine was using the name. I think of how often my kid and theirs will be interacting. if it's not very often, i have no problem using the same name. if they think i copied them, so what.

Co-workers have no bearing on my name choices.
Neither do neighbors, friend's sibling's kids, and for the most part, family members!
My DS and my nephew have almost the same name - Luke and Lucas - but they're 13 years apart in age and I've loved my son's name for so long nothing could change my mind.

Choose the name you love! No matter how small the office is. I wouldn't name my baby a name that my sister chose for her kid, but other than that, no one else's baby name would stop me.

I had two coworkers that had two sons, each with the same names. They thought it was kind of cool. They are no longer coworkers anymore, but their combined 4 sons all have names that their parents liked.

my ds is braydon- nine months later my sil had a baby and named him Jayden- if she can do that, you definitely can use the same name for your son as a coworker

I named my son Matthew and then almost a year later my close co-worker and friend named his son the same name. I could have cared less and considered it a compliment that he liked the name we chose. I say if you like it you use it. Who knows if you'll even work with this person in the next 10 years, yet your child will have this name for the rest of their life!
