i'm going 59 days ....UPDATE Week 1 is over~ and awesome results.
In case anyone cares.
Week 1 down!
Lost some lbs, and down to a weight that I haven't seen in a year!!!
While I am doing this mostly as an experiment and to try to reach a sense of inner peace and get off an antidepressant for anxiety/depression....and to also break through this block that has been in front of me for awhile preventing me from living up to my full potential, the weight loss is needed and a great benefit for me.
I feel like I'm eating a lot, and getting creative in my recipes.
Tons of fruits, lots of greens. Some nuts and seeds here are there. I found a new love for raw zucchini, making dips out of it.
Going to make carrot slaw later! It's shredded carrots with lemon juice, ginger, fresh garlic, and fresh dill.
***Benefits so far:
Have noticed increased energy
I sleep like a log
Skin looks like it has improved a little.
Also, more in the mood to :babydance:.
I also feel a little more relaxed than usual.
I never feel deprived, and cravings have gone away.
Also feeling more positive overall in my life.
***Drawbacks - may be TMI:
Increased bowel movements! I notice shortly after a meal, I have to go. Apparantly this is normal because food is much easier to digest when eating it in raw form, and it passes through quickly.
-No wine or beer. Sad face.
-I haven't given up coffee yet, but I use rice milk or drink it black. I tried to get off it one day and ended up with a migraine. In time, I will replace it with green tea. Baby steps!
-Eating out poses a small issue but they can always give me a plate of fruits or veggies and I can bring my own dips.
So far, benefits outweight the cons!
My goal for next week is to start some yoga and meditation. Currently, I get anxiety when meditating, because I'm so not used to feeling completely relaxed and just letting go...so it is something I am going to work on.
Until next week!
I'm going raw for 59 days and figured I'd share it here with you guys. Going raw is supposed to have a healing effect on the body as well as the mind, which I need!
This will be a vegan lifestyle, which I have done before, and will only be raw, whole foods and nothing cooked, just dehydrated if anything.
I just finished a dinner of lettuce wraps, with a filling of avocado, tomato, red onion, mango, jalapeno, garlic, cilantro, and lime juice. It was quite delicious and very filling.
My snack today was jalapeno and vegan "cheese" kale chips. They are crunchy and so good.
Tomorrow, dinner will be raw lasagna made with zucchini.
I figure it's just 2 months, so I will see how this goes!
Thanks for letting me share.

Cool! Good luck! Do you read Kimberly Snyder's blog or books? She is pretty awesome and into raw/vegan. Might be some food for thought. Anyway, let me know if you notice any significant changes in your body/energy. I would be curious to know how you feel at the end of it!

I have before, but these were from Whole Foods, from a raw chef.
To make your own kale chips, just soak them in a mixture of your liking.
If you want a nacho cheese taste, you can marinate them in a blend of cashews, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, a little garlic, and red peppers (all pureed together) and coat them and then pop them in the dehydrator.
Some people just like garlic, lemon, and olive oil.
I saw one where you can mix sea salt and vinegar, too.
Very easy to do!

Re: i'm going 59 days ....
I just want to give you a bit of a heads up on going raw. It's not for everyone. I went raw for about two weeks and had to stop. My system couldn't take it. I was VERY bloated and slightly nauseous the whole time. You may have these side effects the first few days its normal, but if it does continue beyond that, raw may not be for you. Just a little PSA from someone who's BTDT in the past few months That being said...Good luck! I hope it works for you!

Thanks bunny wife! Will look for those symptoms. I have read about detox - do you think it was that? Do u have celiac disease?
I've dabbled in raw before and felt good but never committed to this long.
We will see but I appreciate your insight :)

The detox would only be for a few days for most people. My diet was pretty clean before so it wasn't just that. My nutritionist says that some peoples bodies can't handle 100% raw. Everyones system is different and some bodies find it too hard to digest all those raw veggies and nuts! I actually gained weight when I went 100% raw because my metabolism freaked out. I do eat raw food but always with something thats cooked. I don't have celiac but I try to avoid gluten because it makes my rosacea worse. I hope it works for you! It's a great way to eat (especially in the summer) and can help you rethink your feelings and cravings about and for food.

Re: i'm going 59 days ....
I just keep telling myself it's just day by day and doesn't have to be forever. I hope it helps my health issues though and it becomes a lifestyle. Food has been delicious so far. Everything tastes so fresh and lively! And very filling, because it's whole foods.
Kale chips are yummy but they get in your teeth I'm about to start a new batch!

I try to do more then 50% raw - I would love to move towards 100% raw
I am reading a great book- crazy sexy diet - it's not a "diet book" but kind of like all the food documentaries in 1 book-
I feel a million times better being vegan- then I did eating meat- raw is next
