Girl Scout Daisies?
I was told I would be contacted over the Summer once a troop is formed. That never happened. I have emailed them, but no response. I've read a few comments on the Suffolk County page that people weren't able to get their kids in. Was anyone called after school starts? Trying to work out our activities schedule, so really wanted to have this all set up before school starts. I didn't realize girl scouts turned into such an exclusive thing either! I thought everyone got in that wanted to be in!

Re: Girl Scout Daisies?
It's really never a question of being exclusive. It's all about having enough adult volunteers. Simply put new troops can't be formed without new adult volunteers.

I am having the same issue. I was sent an e-mail. I am just waiting it out at this point. I am also in Suffolk.

Re: Girl Scout Daisies?
Ladies, as a new Daisy leader, we juist got our list of Daisies this week (after a lot of follow-up on our part). We called to let them know they are in a troop & th at we're in the process of setting up a family meeting.
Daisies generally starts in October.
Most districts had a general meeting for those interested last spring.
I know on our list we only have 7 girls so far; but a flier will go out in their school come Sept.
E/ troop can only have so many girls & if a troop isn't available in their school; they'll see if a neighboring school has availability. Due to the age of the girls; each troop can have no more than 12 girls.

Maybe there isn't a troop in your school? Perhaps ask if you could start one?

The person I emailed was really pushing for me to become a leader, but it's too much work for me since I have more than one child.
I didn't realize they were only in with schools. I thought it was like Cub Scouts where they have them in all community places (churches, etc.).

Re: Girl Scout Daisies?
The meetings start in October. We haven't set our schedule yet and this is our second year. You can still call or email to find out if they know anything Summer

Re: Girl Scout Daisies?
I'm making placement calls this week for our school, but so far no one has stepped up to be the kindergarten daisy leader, so there's no where to place these girls.
Unless a parent volunteers, there will be no troop.
Last year when I started my DD's troop, we didn't start meetings until October, and girls were joining all through the fall.
