What's your routine for soiled diapers? What do you do with them after they come off the baby and where do you store them so they don't smell? TIA

My cousin told me to rinse them and hang dry so they dont stain and smell if you're not going to wash them right away. then wash as you normally would

Re: ? for cloth diaper users
prior to starting food, i just dump them right int he pail
once starting food, i use liners and dumpt the poop in the toilet - if it is messy or i forgot to put a liner in then i have ascraper (an old icing hard spatula) that i scrape the poop intot he toilet - if can't get most off that way then i dunk it - and wring it with its cover and put in pail
i also spray witht bum genuis smell remover -

I have a trash can in each room with a pail liner in it. If it's just a pee diaper I pull the inserts out(I use pockets) and put it in there. If it's a poppy one we have a BG diaper sprayer. We spray it out the best we can and put it in a Planet Wise hanging wet bag in the bathroom. We wash every 3 days as that's how many night diaper we have for each child. Even if we can't get all the poop off the diaper it comes out in the wash fine. If they stain, which they seldom do, we sun them out and they are fine. Once a month I bleach all the micro fiber inserts and wash twice to get it out and sun them. The shells and hemp I soak over night in our top loader with 4T Rockin Green and RLR. I then drain it and wash them twice and sun them as well. We have no ammonia or staining issues.

Re: ? for cloth diaper users
Before solids(just BF'ed poops) I just threw them in the pail. They never smelled up the laundry room and didn't need anything done before washing. Now I dump the spoiled poo in the toilet and then into the pail. They do stink sometimes now. I just try to not forget and skip a day of washing now to avoid the stink.
I never worried about stains. When something does stain I just dry it outside(straight out of the wash) in the sun and the sun gets rid of the stains.

Re: ? for cloth diaper users
My mom remembers keeping a small tub with water in it for pee diapers so they wouldn't smell. If I just put them in a laundry basket will it be ok? or does the basket need to be covered?

i would not put themin a laundry basket becaue they should be washed separate from clothes- you are supposed to use less soap with diapers
i have 2 wet bags and i line the pail with one and just throw the bag int he wash when i do a load

I have a diaper sprayer attached to my toilet. Super cheap and easy to install. I spray the poopy dipes then put them all in a wet bag, right in the nursery. No stink. No stains. And we've had some serious poops!
No SOAKING! This is an old method and not recommended.

Btw, I have a great wet bag that I ordered from amazon for like $16. Try to do some FB searches and hook yourself up with some co-ops for some cheap dipes and supplies!
