Those who eat clean: ever splurge...?
...and get really sick to your stomach after?
DH, bless his heart, picked up "groceries" for dinner because DS wanted hamburgers (we usually buy fresh ground at whole foods) so he went to walbaums and got shadey brook farms turkey burgers, put bbq sauce (1st ingredient was high fructose corn syrup), and kraft mac and cheese. When I buy for a meal like that I usually get grass fed meat, organic bbq sauce from whole foods w/o HFCS, and annies mac and cheese (less of the evils as DS does not like homemade mac and cheese). I came home from work late tonight, so didnt feel like cooking something else and felt bad that DH cooked a second time tonight for me. So...I ate it. Oh man...my stomach hurts so bad and I feel sluggish. Anyone else have this happen? I was thinking of eating some parsley or cilantro as I have read it has a cleansing effect, maybe make me feel better?

Uggghhh....yeah. I've been there. Funny enough, Kraft mac and cheese has done this to me. It is SUCH a guilty pleasure and I will have it once a year (if that) if I happen to be home sick...I'll run to the store and get it because it is my ultimate white trash comfort food.
And then I feel worse after having it. Oh, the irony. Glutton for punishment, that's me.
I would have some hot ginger tea...that always makes me feel back to normal. I personally like the Stash brand the most. No need for honey, its actually very tasty on its own.

Re: Those who eat clean: ever splurge...?
I don't have a treat meal often because of the side effects I experience and because of how long it takes my body to readjust.
There are some days where I haven't prepared properly and there are no clean options. For me its better to just skip the meal than to deal with the repercussions of an indiscretion.

Re: Those who eat clean: ever splurge...?
I eat clean (clean by my definition!), meaning I don't eat junk food and try to eat only organic and fresh products. The only meat I really eat is chicken.
When I do splurge, yes, I feel like total crap after. It sometimes takes me days to recover!
DH and I went a few weeks ago to Smith and Wollensky for dinner and I went all out.. apps, wine, bread, steak, side and dessert. I felt like crap for two days. My body just can't handle that anymore. Even if I splurge at a BBQ and have a burger instead of chicken, it messes up my stomach for days.
It actually amazes me at how my body has changed and how unhealthy I was before.
