My birth story
I was team  during my pregnancy, but everyone said I was having a boy. Guess they were right! Sean Joseph was born on 8/28 weighing 7lbs and 19inches.
At 3:45am I woke and felt like I was peeing the bed so I jumped out and it wouldn't stop. So I said to my husband "get up my water is breaking!" I took a shower and packed the last few things I needed. I knew once I got to the hospital they wouldn't let me eat, so we stopped at the bagel store on the way to the hospital!
We got to the hospital at about 5am and was checked. I was 1-2cm and 50% effaced and they were going to start cervadil. They put in my IV. Which was an experience bc I almost passed out!! After that the baby's heart rate dropped on the monitor so they called a resident OB and they had to put in an internal fetal monitor. They also checked me and I was 3cm! So they decided no cervadil. I would say this happened around 6:30am. The doctor said I could get an epidural if I wanted to. I decided to wait but around 7:30am the contractions were getting stronger so I asked for the epi. Both anesthesiologists were in C sections so I got the epi at 9am.
The contractions hurt a lot, but I knew they had an end to them so I focused on that and tried to breathe through them. Getting the epidural was also not that bad! The IV was worse!! Once I had the epi I felt great! At 10am they checked me again and I was 4cm 90%.
At 10:30am my OB came in. I had emailed him on the way to the hospital to let him know my water broke. He had to be in the office at 2pm and came to check on me in the meantime. I was so happy to see him, but figured there was no way he would be delivering me before he had to leave!! He checked me and I was 5cm 100%.
After that everything started moving really fast!! At about 11:20am I rolled from my side to my back and baby's heart rate dropped and then shot up. The nurse came in flipped me on my side and put oxygen on me. My OB came in and checked me and I was 8-9cm 100%!! So in 45 min I went from 5cm to 8-9!! The baby did not like that!
I was starting to feel pain during contractions and my legs were no longer numb, so I told the nurse and they topped off my epi. I did not feel like it helped much so she was going to give me more, but my OB said no it was time to push!! For some reason I thought I still had plenty of time!!
Sean Joseph was born at 12:59pm after about 20-30 minutes of pushing. He had to be vacuumed out because his heart rate kept dropping during pushing. He was perfectly healthy when he came out though!!
I was so happy it was my OB that delivered him. I don't think it would have been the same experience without him. He was like a football coach during pushing!! It was motivating and showed me exactly how I should push.
We are so in love with our little man!! He is such a good baby (knock on wood!). Recovery was pretty quick. I would say about 5 days after I wasnt feeling any more pain.
For those of you worried about labor, I have to say it was not all that bad! Breathe and get the epi if you want one before the pain gets out of control.

Congrats!!!  Glad your OB could deliver him afterall!! And I love that you stopped at the bagel store on the way to the hospital (and that it was open)!!!

We were so happy it was open!! We had to get DH food and I figured I might as well eat too. I wasn't contracting just super crampy so I felt like I should eat!
