Grello Pediatrics moms...
Does anyone feel like the quality of this practice has gone downhill over the past year or so? I have to say, we are looking into getting another pediatrician. I feel like, since Dr. Steve went out medical, everything is falling apart there. I'm not a fan of the new doctors they've brought in, they are crazily overbooked (waited an hour and 15 minutes today before being seen for a recheck of DS's pneumonia!!) and some of the advice the new doctors have given me when I bring the kids in lately has me
I don't want to poison anyone against them... I still love the original members of the practice, like the nurses and the receptionists, I just want to see if anyone is having the same issues that I am... or if it's just me!
Also, does anyone have a rec for another pediatrician, anywhere in the triangle between Lindenhurst, Deer Park, and West Islip. TIA!!

Re: Grello Pediatrics moms...
I don't use grello so can't help you there but I did want to recommend my ped. His name is dr constantatos. He is in west babylon on rt 109 very close to montauk hwy. He is a single practitioner. He is young with young children himslef. I have NEVER waited more than 5mins to be seen. The nurses and receptionist are so sweet. Dr. C is very laid back yet very thorough. My aunt has taken her 3 kids to him for the past 10yrs. It is such a good feeling when the dr and all the office staff know you by name and know your child. I only use single practitioners for myself and my dd. Hope you find someone you are happy with

Re: Grello Pediatrics moms...
I haven't been going there that long relatively speaking (my DD is 19 months) to know a real difference from years ago, but I have had my own issues. Nothing huge or even really enough to switch yet but I had higher expectations. The practice was highly recommended to me (my DH even went there as a child.) I just feel like it is such hit or miss. I LOVED Stephen and we saw him a few times when we first started going. I feel like I have a love/hate relationship with Ciro--he is obviously a very knowledgeable and great doctor, but sometimes I feel like he is belitting me. I am a first-time mom and he is a little patronizing with my questions. The others I could take or leave...I feel like they just kind of tell you what you want to hear. It bothers me the most that they are all over the place in what they say. I feel like they never agree and will tell you totally conflicting opinions. This happened with my DDs reflux (Stephen started her on meds, then Kathy upped the dosage one time by a lot but next time I went Ciro basically rolled his eyes at even the idea of reflux and said the dosage was WAY too much, yet wouldn't say to stop it, leaving me so confused.) Recently, Jennifer saw my DD for a rash and and started her on an eczema med but when we went a few weeks later, Ciro said there was no way it was eczema. There have been a few other instances where they have contradicted each other. I definitely am fed up with the waiting and it annoys me that I see a diff person everytime (and have no say in who I will see.) I have also been considering leaving but like you said, I really like the nurses and the receptionists are great. They are good at getting them in when needed. Not sure what to do but yes, I am right there with you!

I don't go to Grello, my sister takes my niece there but I can recommend Dr. George in West Islip on Higbee Lane. There is nothing bad I can say about the practice at all. The receptionists are great and I have never been to a doctors office where the receptionists aren't nasty beeotchs lol. I only wait 5-10 mins tops. The nurses are great, they remember us which I love. There are a handful of doctors, which I know some people like only one dr in a practice but I like that there are a few because then you can get in asap when needed, makes the wait time short, and I like that you aren't relying on just one dr and his/her opinion only. I never feel rushed at all. I ask a lot of questions and they are all friendly and don't mind answering them.

Re: Grello Pediatrics moms...
I went there when I was little until I was around 20ish. Once old Dr. Grello left I felt like there wasn't a reason to take my children there. I liked Steve and the staff is great, but Ciro not so much.
Dr. George and Dr. Bonafede were part of that practice for a long time. I use them now. On Higbie lane in West Islip. I really like it there, and the hours and wait time have gotten so much better since they brought on more doctors.

I think I am going to check out Dr. George. I've also heard good things about Dr. Hitner in Deer Park. Anyone have any feedback on that office.
I don't want to be a "hater". The practice has been good to my kids over the years and I appreciate that. But I think Dr Steve being out has taken a huge toll on the practice, and none of the docs are on the same page about anything, as a PP said. I never know what to think. I think the time has come to move on, unfortunately.

Re: Grello Pediatrics moms...
I was thinking of switching to Dr George but someone told me they aren't accepting new patients unless they're infants?
Does anyone know if I were to start there when I have my next child as an infant, would that count? And obviously could I bring my DD there too?

I heard the same thing about Dr. George's office, (I'm pretty sure it was on here). However, it may not be true any more since they have brought on more doctors. I think having a newborn would be your "in" for your older DD as well. But I'm totally guessing!
We see Dr. VanCura at Dr. George's office for all of our son's well visits. She really takes the time to answer our questions. My DH and I really like her. When he's sick, we'll see whoever is available.
We used to have long wait times when DS was a newborn and I hated it. It's gotten better though.

I called when DD was an infant and I was looking to switch to Dr. George because our cousin's dcs go there and love him. I was told that Dr. George is not taking any new patients and they didn't specify if it was newborns or older children.

I love Dr. Vancura. She is the reason I go to Dr. George's practice. When I was pregnant I met with Ciro Grello and Dr. Vancura. I know Dr. Grello comes highly recommended but I felt he was a little condescending and that really bothered me. As a first time mom I wanted someone that was going to listen to my concerns, not roll their eyes at me. Once I met with Dr. Vancura I knew that Dr. George's practice was the right fit for us. I've been very happy with them so far (DD is only 8 months old). And like a pp said, the receptionists are great. They are all very friendly and kind unlike a lot of other dr offices.

Re: Grello Pediatrics moms...
Yes, I agree. I think with Dr. Stephen being so sick, things have gone down. They are short drs, obviously very upset on Dr. Stephen's condition. It is absolutely heartbreaking. I cry every time I go there. I will never leave, my heart hurts so bad for all of them, esp. Dr. Ciro. They are trying so hard to take care of our children, yet going through their own personal and professional grief.. I will be there to support them 100% and I don't care about waits, as long as they continue to make my childrens' health priority, like Dr. Stephen ALWAYS did, even when he was there when he was sick and probably shouldn't have been. I love Dr. Grello (both of them) and their staff. I am so upset about Dr. Stephen, I feel like its a family member. My heart breaks.

We took our ds there and saw a couple drs there. We were not happy, so we left. We now see dr Mariwalla and I have seen dr cereniello and dr bobby and I have been very pleased with their practice.
