is anyone looking to adopt a cat?
Some of you may know, i lost my home to a fire last week. one cat died, emily survived but has been roaming the neighborhood. i captured her today & am at the vet with her.
I really dont have a plan for her. Im crying as i write this. But we will be displaced for a year and i dont know what to do for her. if i could find her a new family to love her, it would be the right thing to do by her.
She's 9 yo, likes dogs, kids people.
Please dont tell me i should live in my car to keep my cat or anything like that. But any useful info would be welcome.

I am so sorry to hear about your losses and all that your family has been through.
I am sure you probably have thought of this but is there a friend or family member who could foster your cat for the year until you are ready to move back into a home? I would imagine that might be easier to find than a full time permanent home for your cat and that way you can be reunited with your kitty when you are settled in a home in the future.

Can you contact some rescue groups-maybe Furbabies in East Rockaway or Bobbi & the Strays in Freeport-to see if they could connect you with a foster home?

I'm so sorry. How about petfinder? Kent animal shelter is also a no kill animal shelter. They are located in riverhead.

Just watch with "no kill" shelters. I don't know anything about Kent, but I'm just saying in general...there are different definitions of "no kill." I learned about all of this a few months ago....some of them are "no kill except for...." and others won't kill them themselves, but they will ship the animals off to kill shelters if they run out of room.

I agree. I would never suggest putting a family pet in a shelter. It's not really "shelter" for them, it's a ticket to a death sentence most times.

 I really feel for your situation and actually just spoke to my dh about fostering your cat until you are in a more permanent home. Unfortunately, it just would not work because we have 4 already and they are still adjusting to the 4th. I really wish there were something I could do.. Keep us updated.

Thanks everyone.
I think (hope & pray) I found a rental home yesterday that will accept our entire family.
Waiting on insurance approval tomorrow that feels like FOREVER away.
I've been hitting up people as a temp home, havent found one yet.
