Re: DO vs MD
DO's go through a different form of education where as MD's go to medical school they go to osteopathy training. Why?

Re: DO vs MD
I am actually a DO myself. Medical school training is the same except there are two philosophies - Osteopathic (DO) and Allopathic (MD). In regards to the curriculum it is completely the same with the exception that in addition to the regualr medical school curriculum (ie. anatomy, biochemistry, microbilogy, histology, radiology, gynecology, nephrology, cardiology, endocrine etc) Osteopathic schools also include curriculum in osteopathic maniupulative therapy (OMT) which is manual medicine (which has really be become popular that some MDs are taking seminars on it). Both MDs and DOs are required to take board exam and complete residency programs. Many DOs (including myself) complete allopathic residency programs as there are not as many osteopathic programs in different specialties available throughout the US. Hope this helps.
