Sewing machine recommendations?
My current machine, an old Kenmore that I received one Christmas as a child, is reaching the end of it's lifespan, so I'm now on the hunt for a new machine.
I'm really into quilting right now, so I'd like to find a machine that will be good for free-motion sewing, be able to withstand three layers or more of materials, and have a large work space.
I'm going to try to go see some Viking machines this weekend, and we have a Bernina dealer near by but the price of those machines are scaring me. Someone recommended the Singer 160 anniversary edition, but it has mixed reviews on Amazon.
Any other recommendations or ideas?
Thanks for your input in advance!

Re: Sewing machine recommendations?
Figured I'd update this post in case anyone else was looking too.
I purchased this weekend a Viking-Husqvarna 100q machine. It has some great features and while it's more expensive than others, it looks like it will last a long, long time.
Hope this helps anyone else looking.

Re: Sewing machine recommendations?
I don't sew but that sounds like a great machine. I sell fabric and see 3 quilt shops a day for work. I see Viking Bernina and Janome in the shops...enjoy! Oh yeah one time I was in a shop and I saw a lady spend $10k on a machine and table
