Which laundry detergent should I use?
I want to start washing some layette things and get them ready for the babies' arrival to the house. Although I am not keeping anything here right now (sorry, superstitious) I need to get a head start.
Do they even make ivory snow anymore? Is it only Dreft?

I used Dreft for the first year than switched to All Clear...I dont even know if they make Ivory Snow anymore...

I was going to use all free and clear but my mom insists I use dreft since it smells nice.

I use Dreft. I didn't switch to tide free and clear until my son was about 2 or 2 1/2. I will probably do the same w the girls

We didnt use dreft because of all of the chemically added fragrances. We use a free and clear.

I only used one bottle of Dreft but I too thought the fragrance was a bit too powerful so I switched to Free and Clear.
Just be cautious about washing things now. I wouldn't wash any premie close. I only washed size 0-3 because I knew they would either be that size or definitely soon. I made a pile of premie close and a pile of newborn with written instructions on the machine for DH As soon as the babies were born and we knew the weights/lengths, he could go home and do a wash. Turns out J needed some premies and K only needed a couple of newborn.

Yes. We use all free and clear because it is the cheapest at bj's. We now do all of our laundry with it

any free and clear works just fine. dreft is so $$-- dont waste your money. now that mine are a few months old i add in some dryer sheets for a light scent

I happened to get a bunch of dreft on sale with a few coupons so i started washing stuff in that right now, but i will also just buy whatever is on sale - free & clear. On the laugh & learn DVD it says Ivory Snow was found to take away the flame retardant properties of clothing so they don't make it anymore...unless they've reformulated since the DVD was made I guess.

Ditto - I use any free and clear (usually whatever is on sale).
PSA - I don't think you are supposed to use dryer sheets on baby clothes. Something about it washing out the flame retardant.

With my son a used dreft for a few months. The bottle lasted forever!!! I loved the smell and it reminds me of my son as a newborn so I'll buy one bottle and use it for the twins then switch to whatever I'm using at the moment.
